I guess you could actually call it the Paul Schaeffer Show for now, with Letterman being sick indefinitely.
Anyways, Dole was on the show, and once again he showed his humorous side. What is with these guys(Dole, Gore) that develop a sense of humor AFTER they lose???
No more pressure to be the "perfect" candidate. No need to try to please everybody all the time.

Actually Bob Dole has shown a humorous side for some time. He also has the attack dog style he showed all too well when he ran for veep in' 76. But he can be very funny.

Bob Dole is a funny guy. Gore is not very funny at all.

Wasn't Dole on SNL after the 96 election? Maybe it was just the Leno/Letterman circuit. I just remember that he should have done that before the election.

Dole was on in 1996 . Norm McDonald played Dole along with Dole playing himself.
I thought Dole was hilarious on Letterman. I just believe that when it comes to campaigning, he follows the "old" style from the 1940's and 50's, etc. I honestly believe that if Dole showed his humorous side more when he was campaigning for president, the results just might have been different.
By the way, does anyone know if CBS intends to start broadcasting Letterman in HD?
i wonder how long this is going to go, since in some cases shingles can last for weeks and sometimes months...

Dole and Gore are both intelligent and funny people with a sharp sense of humor that can come accross as mean spirited. As candidates they were so guarded that they came off as stodgy and dull, which is worse than being mean. Remember Dole's campaign as Jerry Ford's VP candidate? He looked like Gore in the first debate against Bush.
