View Full Version : New 6000 Install?

I just received my new 6000. I installed it to one of my outputs from my SW34 with a legacy adapter. I can do a check switch and get all 3 Sat's 119,110 and 148. When it says that it is going to start downloading (061 message) it will sit there for hours. I talked to Dish support. They had me disconnect power and sat input and have it try without a switch check and have had no luck. I let it go all night and still same message in the morning. Anyone have any luck with getting the software on a 6000 with DP equipment? Thanks for you help. Mike

My 6000 came up just fine with the legacy adapter and a DP34 switch. If I remember correctly, it happened in just minutes, not hours. I used port #3 for the 6000, I have a 721 on #1 and #2. What port are you using and do you have other receivers on the switch?

I have a 721 on ports 1 & 2 and I have a 508 on 3 so I am using 4 for the 6000. When your's took the update did it have a progress bar? Thanks for the reply. Mike

Sorry, I can not remember if it had a progress bar or not, everything just worked and of course I was looking at the 721 at first. As I remember, the 6000 was up and running when I first switched over to it. Have you tried changing from port #4 to #3 where your 508 is working? (You did plug in your adapter, right??)

Yes I do have the adapter plugged in. I can try to switch the ports. When I first did a switch test it says its a sw64 and I had to chose where the 110 sat was but after I did that it showed all Sat's locked with good signal. I will climb back in the attic and changes ports. Thanks

Try hooking up to just one LNB bypassing all switches, download the software, hook it all back up and try the check switch.

Thanks for everyones help. I finally got it working. Here is what i did. I never could get it to download with any of my Dish Pro equipment, so I went to a friends cousin's house that has a Legacy setup. I riped his system apart and hooked mine up. No luck. So today I remember seeing an old D* dish in another friends back yard so I went over and picked it up not even knowing if the LNB would still work. I put this old single LNB on the end of my Dish 500 in the 119 slot ( did not fit right so it was kinda hanging there) I had a signal strength of about 50. I canceled out of the check switch and had the same message about downloading software and not to turn off (061) I noticed that the signal indicator was flashing different than it had before. A few minutes later the first indicator turned red then the next and I was off and running. I am not sure how E* can get away with selling this old receiver for $600 and it takes so much to get the dang thing working. Anyway that is my story. Thanks again for the help. Mike

Well I just got off the phone with E* to complain and they tell me that for the last 4 or 5 days that they have had an issue with software downloads for the 6000 and it is now corrected. If they would have let me know there was a problem it sure would have saved me allot of hassle. Anyway it is working now! All I need it ESPN-HD and I will be fine. Thanks again, Mike
