Woke up this morning to HD issues. The audio is horrible video slightly jumpy as well. It is affecting both of my receivers. It is only on my local CBS, ABC, NBC, and FOX. A RBR on both receivers did nothing. I am actually glad I am heading in to work because it's so bad; I just hope it's fixed by the time I get home. The receivers are a HR21-100 02CA and a HR22-100 O2B0. UGGHHH!!!
I noticed it also this morning on KCNC. OTA 4-1 on my AM21 did not have the problem. It must be on DirecTV's end.

Great I hope it is fixed when I get home or I'll be on the phone for the 3rd time this year with Directv.:(
BTW my one Directivo SD was fine as well.

The local NBC station KUSA is now broadcasting Universal Sports on channel 9-3. I have rerun my antenna set up for local channels on my HR's and it still not showing up in the guide. Perhaps DirecTv could add this channel.

Issues started about 1.5 wks ago with CBS and Fox again. This past weekends game for the Broncos was almost unwatchable due to the brrips. NBC and ABC (surprisingly) are not having issues that I have seen at this time.
Same issue with the Bronco game. It has improved the last couple of nights for me.

Same here with CBS and Fox. Haven't noticed anything on any other channels.

The BRRRIIIPPs on KDVR31 (FOX) are just horrible. I tried to contact the local station and they were just baffled by what I was trying to explain. We'll see how the Yankees v Angels goes tonight. I sure with they could get this fixed.

Absolutely horrible on KDVR FOX 31 in Denver tonight during Glee. The first segment was OK, but after that the BRRRIIIPPPs were so frequent it was near impossible to understand what was being said. They were occurring every 5-10 seconds, no hyperbole.
Calls to the station have been met with absolute bewilderment. This sucks...

Major issues tonight with HD LILs on MPG4. Pixellation and sound drops are rendering the LILs unwatchable (all of them.) Only the locals are breaking up, all other MPEG4 channels are just fine. I checked the dish and cleaned the ice and snow off to no avail.
Channels affected: KCNC, KUSA, KMGH
Date: 10-28-09
Time: 2100 (local)
I noticed it on 4 & 31 a while ago. Seems to be fine now. I wonder if DirecTV needs some dish heaters at the Denver locals uplink with all the snow we are getting tonight.

Sweet! Moments after posting, the issue was resolved. I can only imagine that it was some type of uplink issue caused by the heavy, wet snow we're experiencing tonight.
I think my wife might get over missing the last ten minutes of Cougar Town. :)

BRRRIIIPPPs got so bad on KDVR FOX 31 in Denver that they were happening every 5-10 seconds during the latter part of the World Series tonight. Typically a short BRRRIIIPPP followed by a complete audio dropout as my Onkyo loses DD lock. Occasionally it was bad enough that there would be a complete video dropout as well. Sheesh.
OTA straight to my HDTV was not affected.

Still very bad on Fox. So You Think You Can Dance is currently experiencing lots of audio brriipps and drop outs.

I haven't noticed many problems as of late. Wonder if they got it squared away or if it is waiting for the new shows to come back on???? lol

Thanks for this thread.
We have had directv for almost a month, and since we have had it, we have had the following issue (consistently, without fail, 24/7) on NBC / KUSA / 9:
Depending on the situation, every several minutes to every several seconds a green pixelated horizontal bar will appear on the screen and stay there for about half a second. The bar is maybe 5 pixels tall and always covers 1/2 to 2/3 of the screen horizontally, right justified. It's vertical position varies.
Needless to say, it's a pretty frustrating issue and the problem has been consistent. It occurs on multiple receivers (HR24-100 and -200) and is unique to DTV.

Strange, I am in the Denver DMA and have no issues with KUSA. I have a HR 24-500. Bad connector, switch or some kind of local interference?
I would think they would provide a service call under the 90day warranty since your installation is new.

Here's the best example I could find without digging through the DVR too much:

You aren't seeing anything like that? It kind of looks like the matrix is invading the screen. :D

It is worth noting that Denver HD locals are available from two different spotbeams. It's possible that there could be a problem with feeds coming from one but not the other.

Is there anyway to control which you're receiving from?

I'm not sure how it works in areas where they overlap. Maybe the receiver defaults to the strongest signal? I have no idea.
I have not seen that. I have a Sony 52" XBR4. It looks like some kind of video interference.

We had Directv installed on 10/7/10, and I've noticed a lot of noise on KUSA (Channel 9) Denver. We have an H24 DVR in the living room, connected via HDMI, and an H24-200 receiver in one bedroom with a TV connected via HDMI, and another connected through the wall via Component. I haven't noticed green lines like what is shown in your picture, but we've had what looks like static lines (white) about 1/3 from the top, and 1/3 from the bottom, intermittently while watching. They just pop up at random - you can watch for 5 or 10 minutes, and not notice any, and then they will just flash quickly across the screen. We've seen this on both the HD and SD feeds, and on all the TVs, whether they're connected via HDMI or Component. It's only happening on that channel; we have the Ultimate package, and I have not noticed it on any other channel including other locals. Have the TV and the receivers plugged into surge suppressors, and the one in the living room has noise filtering. I would think that if this were a grounding problem, or some other cable problem, we'd be seeing it on at least a few other channels, but so far, it's only on this one (and we've watched a ton of stuff over the last 3-4 days on several different channels)

I'm seeing the artifacts on KUSA also. They look silver or white when viewed at normal speed, but if I rewind the DVR and go back through the offending scene in slow motion, they're actually green like the photo posted by avsrock90 on the previous page.

glad to see a couple more people have also seen this on KUSA... don't know who to contact...
whether it's a station problem, or a Directv problem, or a problem with our setups.
Holy cow, I am not going crazy! I have noticed this for the past probably 2 months. Honestly I started to notice it after the last NR for the HR-series machines. I see it most often during any 9news broadcast.
Frustrating to say the least, and a huge annoyance!

Don't mean to be a newbie, but what's an "NR"?

Well, I don't think its a problem with our setups because we're all having the same problem on one channel specifically. I don't think its a station problem, because 9News certainly couldn't accidentally broadcast an artifacted image for two months without the problem being corrected. Also, to the best of my knowledge, its not an issue on Comcast.
I called DTV, they tried to walk me through some troubleshooting inside my home, I got them to send an email to engineering. I'd suggest you do the same - maybe we'll get some traction.
I've been seeing all sorts of picture issues with KUSA this year; I think it may be related to whatever form of compression is being used (either at the station level, or on the feed DirecTV is using). Any quick panning of the camera (most noticeable in sports broadcasts) shows significant artifacts/blocking. Since I don't see anything nearly as bad on the other locals, I get the feeling that the issue is somewhere in the KUSA signal chain, and not just a blanket impact of DirecTV's MPEG4 compression.
Can anyone who receives KUSA OTA comment on the quality of the stream?

I just got through testing KUSA-Denver (Channel 9) between my HR24 HD DVR box, and the OTA antenna HD feed, and found that the channel has the static line problem on the OTA feed just as it did on the DirecTV feed, so I'm 99.9999% sure that this is a network/KUSA problem with their signal, and not a problem with DirecTV. Don't know who (or how) to contact KUSA to find out if they're noticing it, but since others on this forum have also reported it, maybe if we all email or call, it will get them to take a look at it. Hope this info helps. I know I thought something was wrong with my installation, or my boxes, but now I'm reasonably sure that it is KUSA's problem.
In the last 15 minutes all Denver locals are having severe breakup issues. I have good signal on all satellites and clear sky. Are others seeing this?
On closer look it is not effecting channels 2 or 12.
4, 7, 9 and 31 are breaking up. All problem channels are HD.

Same here in Longmont... SD locals are all okay. Strictly HD problem
I went away for 30 minutes and just came back. All seem fine now. Strange

Is anyone still experiencing the static lines (white and or green lines) flashing on KUSA? We're still seeing them, especially on local newscasts, and during late night programming (Jimmy Fallon)?
I'm seeing audio drops from KCNC over the last few days and those video artifacts on KUSA.

Yes, this is my single biggest pet-peeve. I can see they on every single newscast regardless of time of day etc. Always KUSA (ch 9). Last night it was particularly bad on the 10PM newscast. UGH!!!! :nono2:

They're BAAACCKKK. KUSA seemed like they had gotten this under control, but in the past week or so, the static lines have returned. Anyone else notice?
Another quick question regarding DirecTV vs OTA: I'm seeing absolutely horrible artifacts when there's any quick movement on-screen during KUSA/NBC sports broadcasts (football is the most noticeable lately, but I was noticing them as far back as the winter Olympics). I don't notice the artifacting on any other channels (including KCNC, which also broadcasts in 1080i). Can someone with OTA comment on whether they're seeing the compression artifacts, or whether it's something happening to the signal running through DirecTV?

Seeing really bad compression artifacts on all HD locals. Seems especially bad on KUSA and KCNC. Even relatively simple things like the local news are borderline-unwatchable.
I couldn't imagine trying to watch a football game or anything right now.
Yeah, it looks terrible right now. My wife called before I got home but they said they couldn't do anything about it.

Glad I'm not alone here, but wish something like a reboot would fix it.
I have been seeing it all night also. Must be some kind of DirecTV compression or satellite issue. :(
KCNC has lots of audio and video breakups tonight. Watching OTA via antenna does not. DirecTV must be squeezing the bits tonight. :(
Also on KUSA and KDVR.

I'm seeing the same glitches on all the Denver local HD channels. Switching to the SD version doesn't show the glitches. Could there perhaps be a problem at the local uplink?
Looks like the issue is resolved. :)
