For the second time in just four weeks, I turned on my 508 to find the "Aquiring Signal" message on my screen (error 015) and nothing else. The first time this happened, my installer came out to verify that the problem was in fact with the receiver and not the LNB or cables outside. I sent the receiver back for a replacement and now the replacement is doing the same exact thing!

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what might be the cause. I don't want to have to replace my receivers every month.

Thanks!

If its a repetive fastr failure they should waive the shipping. After 3 replacemnents ask for a new box. That appears the rule but you have to ask. CC autopay waives shipping charges that might be useful.

when this happens i go to the system setup and install and dish point etc and "reinstall dish" until the satellites lock on again. on my 508 this has worked most of the time to clear the acquiring satellite signal problem. this is my 4th 508 so i am wondering when the latest will konk out. had this one only for 2 months so we will see how long it works.

I know I asked and I was repeatedly told NO, you dont get a new receiver, you ALWAYS get a refurbished one. I had one replaced 3 times and got terribly sick of it. I think I may rid of a 721 as well because one of the tuners is pixellating and losing signal intermitently after I have it replaced. Enough is enough already. When are they going to get it right? It should NOT go bad the first time let alone 3 times. You cannot even hardly get them to waive the shipping although I did last time and got a new receiver but had to go through great measures and hours of talking on the phone to get it. I should have gotten something for my time. Dish PVR's are VERY poorly built. I know I will rarely sell them to a customer.

Jacob S I agree DISH PVR'S ARE POORLY BUILT. The frequent failure has driven me to DirecTV, I just wish it didn't take three and a half months to become a dealer again.

It takes three and a half months to become a dealer for a company you was once a dealer for DirecTv? If DirecTv would get WB local in addition to the other locals they are going to carry for my area I would take their service in a heartbeat since they are carrying my locals by the end of the year and take their DirecTivo product.

What kind of phoneline rules do they have? They said no phone line for a second and third receiver would be no problem as long as one had a phone line was connected.

Thanks very much for all the great comments! I did get a replacement receiver but had to threaten to cancel my account before they would send me one. They wanted me to pay an installer to come out to make sure the problem wasn't at the dish instead of at the receiver. I tried to explain that I just had this problem a month ago with a previous receiver and that time I did have the installer come out to confirm that it was a receiver problem. Geeeze! Nonetheless, they wanted me to go through the whole process again. That's when I told them to cancel my account. At that point, they connected me to the "butt kissing" department where they were very nice and immediately agreed to send out a replacement receiver which I now have. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this one will last a while. If not, I think I'll have to switch to DirecTV.

I rarely hear of problems with DirecTv PVR receivers. I am thinking of getting one myself, especially since they are going to offer locals for my DMA. It is total nonsense to have the customer pay someone to come out for something we already know what the problem is and for something that is the fault of Dish Network for making bad PVR's. I have had at least 4 PVRs go bad myself. The next one I will have to reconsider on going through Dish Network, especially with all the hassle they have given me and my customers in which I sell Dish Network to and the problems and lies they have told.

This company is not the same as it was a couple, three years ago.
