It is not clear if the KU band of the satellite is intended for DTH or DBS service. But it says the transponders have a bandwidth of 36 MHz. Funny, how EchoStar and Directv opposed Americom plans to launch a DBS service on 105 W and now Dish is going to use that capacity.

It is KU-FSS service, The DBS bird is a different satellite not yet under construction. The capacity EchoStar is probably interested in is the Ka band spotbeams(12 in all).

BTW: The DBS orbital location is 105.5 degrees west. While Gibraltor has given them a license, they still need FCC approval to deliver DBS to the USA.

AMC 15 will most likely replace G-Star 4 which is at 105 degrees west. Not much traffic there now.
