Adding 501 using two-way spliiter?

I have a 622 hooked up and I tried adding a 501 DVR by installing a Philips 2300 mhz two-way splitter ahead of the direct coax connection to the 622 receiver. Everything works great when only one of the two receivers is turned on. My problem is when the 501 is on, the 622 gets no signal. What else can I add to this splitter to boost the power enough so that both receivers can function at the same time?

you can't. you have to have a switch or run a seperate line off the dish's lnb

totally wrong setup. Splitters CANNOT be used between the LNB and the receivers.

What LNB are you using ? With this, we can tell you the proper way to hookup that extra receiver.

I had an installer set my system up so I don't have the LNB model numbers but basically I've got this below. Two separate dishes on the roof that connect to a 622 and a 722. Here's what I think is my setup:

The coax going into the 622 is in the perfect location to tap into the 3rd receiver I want to add. I didn't know if this could be done but as I said it works when I use a splitter one receiver at a time. It's pretty much just a like a on/off switch though so I was wondering if I could make it work simultaneously with something other than a splitter. I really don't want to run more cabling so I might have to live with this on/off split.

there's really no way to do that with your setup. what kind of equipment do you have outside. (menu-6-1-3 and read what is in box h)

Device: DPP Twin, Twin(1), Twin(2), Dual (3)

to add another receiver, you would need a dpp44 switch hooked up out by the dish. and then a line run from there to the room you want the 501 in.

The new DPP33 should be cheaper, probably even if you need to replace the DPP Twin with a DP Twin. That will again put you in the position of having a maxed configuration (3 slots to 3 receivers) so if you might be adding to either, getting the DPP44 now may be better.
