My neighbor had D installed last week and they gave him the round dish. He does not have HD yet and wasn't to concerned. I just thought it was unusual to install an old style round dish. I'm looking for some other thoghts on this.

it is not unusual to install a round dish for SD only in 101 markets. they have to be used somewhere
I am waiting for someone to come up with a Triangle or Star shaped dish.
Yup, if there is no HD and the locals are on 101, there is no need for the slimline at this point and the round dish is much quicker to install.

Ya same here... My neighbor has a round dish and I know for sure he doesn't have any HD tv's in his house.
So I guess they figure if they want an HD tv the will call D* and tell them when they get it and ask for an upgrade or if someone moves in they have to get a new install anyways so they figure why waste the time initially. Who knows.... I somewhat agree though... why not future proof the set up. But I suppose it's more expensive and doesn't pay off as quickly.

In a perfect world without profit margins all installs should get Ka/Ku dishes and HD, HD DVR boxes. But that is just not going to happen.
