Some in this thread, http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=136737 are actually saying that they would leave D* if Dish were to carry the FNC HD before D* does. It got me wondering if others felt the same way, and if so, how many........

As always - please leave politics out of any discussion on this board!

I don't know about Fos, but I do know that I want my FNC in HD. Enough to switch, doubtful.

Fox News in HD would be nice, but not much reason to switch. Since I do not get NFL ST, they can shed that also and I will stay.

For me it depends how long DirecTV went without it and if DISH gets it. Two big IF's, but its plausible. Hopefully DirecTV will ge their act together and add some real national HD channels soon, along with FNC HD...Though my life has changed for the better with Planet Green....:nono2:

I don't know what it would take to get me to switch from Directv to Dish -- a lot, I think. My sample may be biased, but I know quite a few people who have switched to D*, but I don't anyone who has switched to Dish. However, the whole deal is probably like the Ford-Chevy argument.

I would wait, but it would stink! I joined Direct TV in 1997 because they had Fox News and no one in my area did.

FNC doesn't matter to me but as a Premier subscriber I can tell you that if Directv doesn't add more HD movie channels and my HD LILs before the end of the year I will probably leave for Dish after football season.

i am more unhappy about them not offering espnu in hd. But I wont seriously consider leaving directv until they lose NFL ST (if they ever do). That brought me to them and no matter how many lil pet peeves i have with them it will keep me there.

I love Fox News but I wouldnt switch if Dish carried it 1st. D* Current HD offering along with the arrival of the HD Tivo boxes (in 2009) is enough to keep me happy with D* for quite a while.

I suppose there are some out there who are news junkies enough to do this, but basing your decision on a single channel like this seems a bit extreme... although I bought my first DirecTV dish in 1994 because the cable company wouldn't carry the SciFi channel :lol::lol::lol::nono2:

OK so it is only extreme if you are a news junkie.... :D

I agree, and that's why I started the poll - people were actually stating they would!

I want it, but it would take a lot more than that for me to leave D*.

I would like to see Fox News in HD but I can wait as even in SD, it is surely be better then what is currently being offered on channel 202.

We can joke around about CNN and FNC, but Bill Gates must be about ready to slit his wrists about MSNBC. Talk about money down a rathole. Don Imus had some real problems, but he was lucky to get off that channel.

I don't like the editorial bent, but you gotta give Roger Ayles (sic) a ton of credit. IIRC, he took the old "America's Talking" and essentially turned it into FNC.

Anyone who would leave for that channel in HD is someone I just don't get... I'd understand if it was a channel that is showing something that is important visually as it is anything else, but all the news channels that are HD are mostly only HD in the actual studios right now... And in the studios its all about talking... Maybe in a few years when everything on the channel is in HD, including all the remote shots after disasters, like gustav or something, but today? seriously? If the anchor lady is that hot, just download her picture and make it your wall paper! :D

Fox is the only channel I watch, however I voted no, I'd continue to wait. The reason is because I'm locked in a contract. That keeps me locked in regardless. And everytime I add a receiver, I get locked in again. So I'm not going anywhere if E* get's there first. On a different note, I will vote with my wallet and drop my premier package if D* does not add more premier channels in HD very soon. I have been disappointed in D* D11 rollout that I will consider my options as i approach the end of my contract, which I would have never done had the rollout been better suited for my interests. I usually never complain but when you are "locked in" it's just not as easy as cancelling a netflix subscription.

Well, no, he took AT and made it into the original MSNBC (even though he did depart a few months prior to the official launch). The one with actual news content and some watchable (i.e., non-screaming) talkers: John Gibson, Jodi Applegate (still miss her in Phx), Soledad O'Brien, Brian Williams.

The FNC operation was already well into development, albeit topic-focused rather than personality-driven. Over the course of his first year with FNC, he slowly phased out the originally intended programming in favor of shows more closely hewing to the Crier/O'Reilly/H&C formats he implemented on his arrival.

I hate Fox News, but I'd much rather see it in HD. Even if the program material remains 4:3, the resolution in HD will be better. There's no bearing on whether I'd switch to Dish.

If Air America was any indication of being the only liberal radio network...

Now you know the rest of the story:)

I catch all my news on the internet, dont care about HD news channels at all. And I would not sign up for Dish network if they were the only provider of HD available to me. I would give up on broadcast HD altogether if Dish was my only choice. I would just settle for OTA and Blu Ray, or possibly go back to Charter. Dish network has the worst customer service I have ever come across from any utility, by a landslide.

As someone who's had both in the last year, D* would really have to screw up for Dish to EVER see any of my money again.

... dont care about HD news channels at all.Except for the higher resolution, it's really a waste. A lot of it is just 4:3 with flashing, moving, distracting graphics in the side bars that fill out the 16:9 frame.

I dunno, for people that are really into watching the news on TV I can see where HD is important to them.

Persoanlly I dont watch any SD at all unless one of my local sports teams is in SD only. So HD is very important to me regardless of the programming being shown. I just happen to enjoy reading the news instead of watching it.

If it were true 16:9, I could see it. But most of it's not, it's 4:3 with animated logos, or other gratuitous flashing, moving junk of no use, in the sidebars. So there's little advantage and it's more distracting than 4:3 that doesn't have animated sidebars.

I agree about reading news, I much prefer it to the dumbed down spoon-fed stuff on teevee.

way to put the pressure on D*. I can only imagine that they are using Cablevision or whatever other cable providers to work out the kinks on the HD feed. D* will get this channel at some point. Actually now would be a good time given we're less than 2 months from the election.

One leans one way, the other the other way. I watch both, in order to really get balance - but my real point (though connected with that), is that BOTH should be in HD, to have it all level in depiction.
