It does indeed on my 105" pj screen. all eight games are like 32", if I zoom out the bogus jets/dolphins and whatever is under it, i can get 6 games @ 37".

I have noticed here that when i move the yellow cursor from game to game the sound takes a good 5 or 6 seconds to sync up. Anyone else having this problem?!?
Im not the volume moves automatic for me.

Yes, like I stated above, the yellow box goes away and you can't switch games.

So this channel would be good in a sports bar with a big or projection TV. :)

In order to really take advantage of the HD game mix you better have bigger than a 40" screen otherwise you have to sit up really close. My other TV is 37" and is way too small. I have a 105" PJ screen which makes all 8 games effectively 32" each(when zoomed). I can drop(zoom), see attached image, the games on either left or right and the 6 remaining games will each almost be 40". Zooming in also gets rid of the cheezy filler @ the top/bottom of screen too. http://www.geocities.com/texas.moose/DTvHDmix.gif

I wonder if it's possible for Direct TV to change the eight games boxes to four.

That would be nice for the 4:00pm est games, there are rarely more than 4-5 games through the season.

PSPs are also "Location Free" players (Sony's Wireless AV term). I have a Location Free Base Station/ transmitter hooked up to one of my D* receivers via component and I just simply assign that transmitter to the PSP. Similar to setting up a wireless router to a PC or other wireless device.

So they didn't change the Game Mix channel to show bigger pictures for the late games? That is annoying. I wish they would come up with 6 picture and 4 picture configurations, based on the number of games on. Maybe they will at least have a 4 game config for most of the year where there are no more than 4 late games at a time. Going from 8 to 4 would be a big difference, where I guess going from 8 to 6 would not be that big.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Although the ideal would be to let the viewer choose between 2, 4, 6, or 8 games in any combination we want.

I liked on the Red Zone channel when they would show two games at once if two teams were about to score. That was about as small as I can take on my smaller 42" DLP.

The Gamemix was watchable, but on a 42" it's more of a novelty than something I could actually stand for an entire game.

The new NFL HD Mix Channel makes all the other Mix Channels practically unwatchable.

Other than the obviously crisper image the HD feed brings, the wider aspect ratio of the individual game feeds allow the "scoreboards" to not block the actual broadcast footage and graphics.

Unlike the MLB Game Mix, for example, where graphic information, such as Batting Avg. (which is shown on the actual game broadcast when a batter comes up to the plate) is partially blocked (sometimes completely depending on which broadcast feed is shown) by the blue MLB Game Mix Banners for the bottom games, which shows the Outs, Inning, Base Runners, and Score. The MLB EI Channel numbers on the Mix Screen also get in the way.

Hopefully, we will soon have HD Feeds for MLB Game Mix, News Mix and Sports Mix. HD Feeds for all D* exclusive Major Sports Events (Golf, Tennis, Mega March Madness) will be nice, as well.

DCSholtis

Mega March Madness was all HD last year if I remember correctly.

DBSNewbie

Mega March Madness was all HD last year if I remember correctly.

Although the individual game channels were in HD for MMM, I think the Four-Game Mix Channel with the "other game scores" on the left hand side of the screen was in SD only. If I'm remembering incorrectly, I do apologize.

On a side note, for this year's Masters coverage, I think D* did have an HD feed of their Mix Channel. I hope that's a sign of what's to come for future Majors coverage.

Strangely enough, it is on the rare occasion that anything gets recorded on one of the den receivers. Programs that are recorded are usually done on the DVR in the Bedroom.

The DVRs in the den are used primarily for their Pausing and Rewinding capabilities, as we watch multiple sports programming on six different screens in the den, and will do a quick "instant replay" when a highlight-worthy play occurs on one of them.

Game Mix would be BETTER if it allowed us to pick which games populate the screen or a way to shuffle them around in an order that would allow us to "ZOOM" in from 8 to 6 or 4. Some of the games are so far gone it's not worth it to be in the mix. If I zoom in from 8 to 6 to 4, each toggle makes the individual games bigger. Many of us have "Zoom" capabilities and Directv needs to give us more "USER" friendly tools to maximize our viewing
experience that allows us to tailor this to meet our individual needs.

I wish that they would put the second round of games in the middle of the screen rather than going across the top and then starting again. It would be alot easier to focus in if the games werre all in same area of the screen. Right now if I zoom my projector I see the red zone game two other games and a giants win sign. Why not have four of the five games currently being played in the middle of the screen.

Can your Pj only zoom to the center? On mine i can move around the zoomed area so that i had the sf/sea,atl/tb, mia/ari, and redzone.
You might want to check if there's a way to move it around. I had to figure out on mine that I have press the "pointer" button then move the cursor around
(or plug a mouse into the pj).

I do agree with you though it would be nice if they clustered them rather than running across the top.

Last week, we discussed trickplay on the Mix channel and I have done some experimenting.

You need to exit out of the interactive layer, which will leave the last channel you had audio on as the only audio during trickplay, so pick the game you want to hear first.

You can perform all the trick play you want on the entire screen, with the audio you went into trick play being the audio track.

You can change the audio track in one of two ways:

1) At any time during trick play, use the yellow button and pick the audio track from the popup menu. The tracks are pretty obvious. 1 is the first box, 2 the second, etc. The yellow box will not come up but all tracks are buffered/recorded.

2) Reload the active layer (easiest way is to hit guide and then select to reselect the channel). The interactive layer will reload and you can pick whatever audio track you want. Of course, when you do this, trickplay is disabled. To reenable, hit exit again.

I used this a couple of times today. Pretty useful to catch what was going on in another box than the one you were listening to.

We paused the "GameMix" today, so my wife could dye her hair. When we hit resume/play and attempt to switch between games the audio takes about a minute to sink up. And now the Yellow highlighted box is nowhere to be found, and the game mix audio is stuck on the "Texan/Titan" game. My wife is getting ready to throw the remote she's so po'd. Also, If I hit the left arrow key it brings up the DTV 'guide', wtf?!?! Anyone know how to bring the Yellow highlighted edge box/cursor back on screen? At this rate we're gonna have to go back to Andrew Siciliano/RedZone Channel, at least until they work out the bugs on gamemix.

I would of gueses that you would have problems with GameMix if you wanted to pause it for an extended time period. How would your DVR be able to have audio stored for stations you were not tuned to? In my opinion that is why you are stuck with the one audio. You had the cursor on that game I am guessing. I highly doubt that will ever change. Your asking for alot from a channel and a DVR.

We had it on the default game initially(top left corner), but we had limited success with 4 or 5 games over the first 10 minutes. But now it's locked on the HOU/TEN game. I kinda of figured it would be asking a bit much for it to buffer all that time on the gamemix channel.

We've since changed over to RedZone channel and back and the yellow cursor is back. Although, it still takes 3-5 seconds for the audio to sync up.

Can they move the Redzone and "Bucs Win" over to the far right please? So I can take advantage of my PJ zoom and concentr8 on just the active 6?!?!?!
Eventually they might replace the wasted square of "Bucs Win" with Fantasy Stats or something useful!

Read above to see how to get restore things. It works, I tried it.

screen keeps going dim? not PJ related either. Once we hit previous channel, it goes back to default brightness right b4 previous channel comes online, then hit prev channel again and all is well. Anyone else getting dimming on gamemix?

The dimming is a screen saver function, I've had it happen too. I think it kicks on when you stay on one game for a certain amount of time.

Pressing the "Dash" button twice disables/enables the Screen Saver Mode for Game Mix.

Where's the JAX-Lions game? It's not on today's NFL ST HD GameMix. They got RedZone in its place, ?????!?!?!?
It's not being broadcast on my local stations in DFW.

It was on. They just decided not to put it in the gamemix.

I noticed that the Carolina/Oakland game isn't in the game mix either. There's been a crawl stating that due to NFL restrictions they can't show it. Maybe it has to do with the game not being sold out, so home team viewers can't see the game. They are showing the Carolina/Oakland game on the regular channel.

I'm guessing that Detroit didn't sell out either.

Thanks.

It was in the NFL Schedule sticky that they can't show games in the Gamemix if the game doesn't sell out. As pointed out though, the games can still show up in the Red Zone channel and on the regular channel for out of market people.

I don't use this channel as much because it has 2 major problems...

1. They don't use the whole screen!!! Come on! I have a 61" tv and there is simply too much wasted space. Even on my tv, the screens are way too small.

2. After games end, they keep the same 8 game boxes! Does this make sense? No.. If 4 games are on, go to 4 boxes!

3. Wish list, would be great to have a feature to build a channel with the games we want, like just 2 or more etc..

I agree that losing the unnecessary boxes once the games end would be nice.

There isn't any way I can see a Build Your Own Gamemix would work. You'd need a box with enough tuners for each game. Can't see D* ever making an 8 tuner box just for 6 hours one day seventeen days a year!

The problem I have with it is this: You're watching the mix channel and something exciting happens in one of the games, so you cursor to it and hit select to see that game full screen, and then the screen goes black for what seems like about 5 seconds. So you have missed the play completely on the mix channel and the full screen channel.

I have gotten where I use the red zone channel more, and flip around from there

When watching the Game Mix HD channel on my new HR22, when I try to go to the channel with the yellow border, it defaults to the SD channel! That doesn't make any sense. It should go, for example, to 704-1, not 704.

Also, the yellow border takes up to 10 seconds to appear when you first go to 702-1, and when you move the border around, the audio lags for up to 5 seconds.

Did I get a bad receiver? I didn't see these problems on my recalled H20.

I tend to have 1 game on the flip with the RZC.... Selecting a game like you said blacks it out, whereas I know on the RZC I'll see it.

I've had that happen on the election mix channel... Never on the GMC...

I don't know why they put the RZC on the Mix channel. Seems like a waste of space. If they are trying to get more games on when there are more than 7, then just rotate the Mix every once in a while or have an "other" screen on there rather than the RZC. Usually, there are two boxes showing the same thing with the RZC.

Much of the original's posters concerns have been stated previously in this original thread dedicated to NFL Sunday Ticket Game Mix HD & it's here:

I could be wrong but I believe that the RZC only shows up when there aren't eight game Directv can show.

In many cases there are more than eight games going on but because of blackouts they can't be put on the mix channel. These blackouts are most often caused by a non-sellout game.

The lag happens on my HR-21 every week. Sometimes up to 30 seconds before the yellow box comes up. And the audio does periodically drag behind as well.

However, the Election Mix Channel was flawless for me with both audio and the yellow box coming on almost instantly.

This is my biggest wish for SF. Build-your-own 4-game mix channel utilizing the full screen.

As it stands now, with 3 receivers in my living room, I screen-split my 42" TV to one game (in HD) and RZC (in SD) with audio, and my 20" LCD to a 2nd game (in HD).
