I called DirecTv lastnight and asked them if I need to have HD access to get my OTA channels via my AM21 connected to my R22. Well you don't have to have HD access anymore... Thanks D.

That's the difference between signals via OTA and Directv. OTA means you don't have to go through Directv.

Nope, they let me drop my HD access, too.

I think this is rather fair of DirecTV. They should treat HD access as a programming add-on (like Showtime or Sports Pack), not an "enabling feature" required if a HD receiver is on the account. If, for some reason, someone only wants SD channels (I know, heresy), then let them. Happy customer means they pay longer.

I pick up my local OTA HD channels, theyt are downrezed by the R22 and I have the ability to DVR them too and now I do not have to pay $10.00 a month to get them...
