I thought I had fenagled free SF. The CSR confirmed it but it's not showing up. Is anyone else having this problem?
Nope. I confirmed mine on my account the day I was activated and got mine for free. You should always check your account online and make sure what a rep tells you shows on the account.
Yep, I'm missing mine as well. Been on hold for 20 minutes hoping to get it resolved.

It seems I just got it but cannot verify online. Keeps timing out. Many people having this problem?
I was supposed to get it, but it's not working and I can't get through on the phone. I get transferred to busy signal! Is there a direct line to someone?

same here....my hd boxes have been freezing up all morning too...went to call and i'm getting a busy signal...:nono2:
Just got off the phone with a rep. She was very helpful and got my account activated as it should be. The HD channels didn't come in right away, but the game mix did. She also made it sound like they've had global problems with the HD channels, meaning that even some people who had already been properly authorized weren't getting the HD games so they were getting slammed with calls. After a few minutes I started receiving the HD feeds.
Hope everyone else has similar success.
I have had no issues so far at all. I am getting all games in SD and HD no blackouts or any problems of any kind.

Same here, except for the HD feeds in SF being blacked out due to them being on my local CBS or FOX in which I just let game tracker kick in.

Finally got through.... they said I had not ordered it... So I told her that I talked to two previous reps who said that I had... she apologized... billed me for 99.99... then she said she credited it...
I guess we will find out on the next bill...
But now it is working. :)

What early bird package included it? I got it free almost a month ago and have had no issues but it was not part of any Sunday Ticket package that I have seen thus far.
Why isn't it ALWAYS free??
I'm paying $10/month for HD access and $290/year for Sunday Ticket and I can't watch the HD games without ponying up another $100??! WTF? I'm now watching the games I get through my OTA antenna because SD games are U-G-L-Y!!!
Can someone please tell me how you got this for "free"?

Call and ask for it. I did a month ago and was given it for free. Just tell them that you know alot of people that are getting it added for free and you want in on it to. Some have had to try a few times but most are getting it free in the end. I also would try to do it on a day other then Sunday to do so.

Shame on DirecTV...
What a joke! Some CSR just told me that they have to charge for SF because the NFL forces them too. :nono2:
He also told me he has been fielding calls for the same request all day. lol How long can DirecTV let this go on?
I guess I have to call back again. This reminds me of the leasing issue with the initial H10-250's.
I hate this company!

Hang in there. I told you today was not a good day to do it. They probably been getting their butt chewed all day so far. I doubt they feel like being that generous today. Try tomorrow or Tuesday.

Good call, thanks again. I'll be in a better mood too!
I waited until this morning to try and get SuperFan. Called about 30 minutes before the first games and asked the CSR if I could get it added for free. He looked at my account and said it would be no problem. It was on my account and working as the kickoffs for the early games got under way.
One step closer.
This time, after I threatened to cancel ST, the CSR said he would check if I was eligible for "free" SF. Funny how "free SF" suddenly entered his vocabulary, isn't it? After a few minutes of silence he came back with some spiel and said I wasn't eligible. I then asked him why I need to pay and extra $100 to basically keep DirecTV from blocking the HD channels and he said that if they gave them to us the SD customers would call in and complain that they had to pay for them. I said that makes no sense because 1. how many SD only customers are left out there and 2. why not include the HD channels for people who have the equipment and subscribe to HD access since both customers pay $290/year but HD customer pay $10/month, EVERY month? (And btw, how the 'f would they know what channels I receive? lol)
I think I am going to have to threaten to cancel ST unless they turn on SF for free and follow through if they don't. I'm tired of hearing how I'm a great customer and not being treated like it.

I tried to tell you that Sunday was a bad day to try to get freebe's out of them. My guess is the reps come to work knowing that its going to be a stressful day with all the NFL games. I bet tomorrow or Tuesday you will have more success.

Yes you did, and you may be correct. Each time I call I get more worked up. What a cluster-f this company is, with its flaming hoops and BS scripted lines. I am seriously getting so fed up that I may even start looking at fiber or some other solution (is the internet ready to handle HD downloads real time?).
I'm not paying $300 for HD & ST access to see my Jets in SD!! Stop the madness. Perhaps the result of the game set me off too! lol ;)
D* is not going to be as sympathetic about offering SF free as the season has begun.
Their policy clearly states:
Sports subscriptions cannot be canceled, transferred, refunded, or credited (in part or in whole) after the season starts.
Before the season started, they were a bit more willing to sacrifice $99 to save $249.

I bet he will still get it if he tries in the next day or two. I just am starting to understand how this works. Think about it. If you were going to deal with irate customers all day that had a different grip for different areas of the country for 6 hours when its not your fault you just took the call would you be real apt to hand out any freebe's? I know I would not. I guarntee you that the reps come in dreading Sundays. Just on here there was complaints of SuperCast, SuperFan, & Gamemix HD that I saw.
If people reported it on here then you know they did on there. You add that tons of people probably called to add SuperFan and then tons more called because they did not know they needed SuperFan with more customers that wanted Sunday Ticket and you have a stressful day that they just want to get through. Try another day after the dust has settled.

I guess that explains why I wasn't "eligible".
They are in for a fight.
I also heard they have some bogus cancellation fee for their leased receivers now too. Since when did D* become a cellular phone company and adopt all their shady policies?
Well I think you may be a little misinformed. They have a fee if you break your contract or if you do not send back a leased reciever. It is leased whats bogus about sending it back or paying for it?

That makes sense and I will do that.
I tried my hardest to empathize with the guy, and explained that I understand his predicament, but I also know d@mn well he or she is empowered to add SF at no charge so it's hard not to get p!ssed off at them.
I used to be in CS myself and had to deal with irate customers for things that were not my fault. I know how high stressed it is and I am hoping D*comes to its senses and changes this policy because it's flat out BS!!!

The broken contract fee is what I was referring to. Since when has that been pat of their money grubbing tactics? That's the only power the consumer has. Make him sign a contract and they can treat you like dirt!
PS: Awesome win for your boys today. :)

Some people are actually not getting SuperFan for free. Instead they are getting credits like $10 for a year to counter it. So not everyone is getting it for outright free. I did but that was a month ago. I think it will be a little harder now to get it but have no doubt you can if you call tomorrow or the next day. Be patient and understand that its not the person on the phones fault. I work in Customer Service/IT for a different company now so I have plenty of patience. Be nice but firm that you really want to try it but dont want to pay an extra $100 for it. Tell them you want to see what the hype is about and see if its worth it for next year. I think worst case is they give you $50-60 credit making SuperFan not free but definately worth the deal. Let us know what you get. I am pulling for you.

Thanks for the kind and wise words, I do appreciate you taking the time.
I tried the nice/naive approach and it's not working. My plan is to go with straight talk next time, in a day or two, and to ask for the HD GAMES as opposed to SF. After all, I don't want SF, I just want HD games. That's going to be my line. If that doesn't do the trick, then I'm going to tell the CSR to cancel my ST subscription and credit my account, and mean it. I'll see where that leads. I'm not going to watch the SD games, which look awful on my HD TVs anyway, so I won't be missing anything.
Oh, one thing I forgot to mention ...
I have had HD through D* since 2003 and remember in the old days that they would add the HD games in the 90's. Why have those been discontinued now? MPEG2 unplugs?
If it were not for the local HD channels and ESPN picking up games, I would have NO GAMES in HD (I'm 1/2 surprised they haven't blocked those too!). They used to provide at least some games in HD each week and then reserve SF for ALL the games in HD, but now it's all or nothing. Ridiculous.

The reason they arent automatically adding SF automatically this year is because, if you notice, they have to disable the majority of the ppv movies on sunday football games to compensate for the hd nfl coverage in there signal, they simply dont have enough space for all of it in the sat feed. yeah sure, you can get it for free if you push hard enough, but there is still a reason for the charge, just like everything else

Nice is the only way to go. You can't p*** them off and expect them to do you a favor. When you get the right CSR it will be easy, they will just say "I can do that for you". Took me 4 calls and didn't argue with anyone. If you want to get tough with them go ahead.
It's gonna be a bloodbath !!!!
so much for that prediction...that was one of the crappiest games played by both teams ive seen in a while...id hardly call 10-6 a bloodbath..maybe a crapmudbath...and if braylon edwards could ever catch a pass that counts, and if romeo crennel wasnt such a loser with his field goal decisions, and if derek anderson wouldnt assume that a rookie wr is going to make an automatic read at the line (steptoe on the interception end of first half), maybe things would have gone slightly the other way last night.
i dont think steeler fans should be ordering any super bowl tickets just yet..especially since your quarterbacks arm is going to be flopping at his side soon...on the next big shot from a 300 pound defensive lineman...
I just called CSR and got the SuperFan free. Similar to lots of others I was a little surprised that I didn't have the games yesterday in HD. I called but got the busy signal and of course the website was down.
Tonight I explained to the CSR that I've been a customer of NFLST for ~10 years and multiple sports packs and thought they always renew automatically. After asking my name and phone number, in the matter of seconds she offered it free because 'she shows that I've been such a GOOD CUSTOMER'. I say thanks and she reads a rather long spiel about the red zone channel, up to 12 games a week blah blah blah.
About three minutes later, here I am. I've always been pretty lucky with Customer Sevice at DirecTV. As a professional who worked many years in CS, it certainly is best to 'kill em with kindness'. I.E. when she asked how I was doing always reply with 'well, and how are you?' - Anyway - missed one week of HD but got 14 more for free!
so why the hell doesn't dtv just simply give superfan to everyone for free, my god you have to pay for hd access and sunday ticket anyways, i just don't get it.

If only Romeo Crennel managed the clock as well as browns fans cry:crying_sa then it would have been a game at the end. Don't whine because the only QB with an arm strong enough to make a completion in the wind was from Ohio but not in brown and orange.
I'll be waving my Terrible Towel in February, you'll be crying in your pierogies......you should be used to that.
I learned something the week before. My hatred for the cowgirls superseded my disdain for the browns as I rooted for you guys. You've been so bad and pathetic for so long that it's hard to dislike you. You are on your way to making me hate them again. It's not because the browns are any less pathetic, it's just that their fans are so obnoxious that they have the ability to talk trash in defeat. Sorry we didn't beat you worse, don't worry we'll get that shot later this year in our house. The good news for you is the Steelers won't have anything to play for in week 17. With home field advantage wrapped up you'll get to face Dennis Dixon and Mewelde Moore. Good luck.

I wrote a nice email asking for free superfan. This was the response I received:
After reading your email and reviewing your account I see that you are eligible for some complimentary programming. Because we appreciate you being a DIRECTV customer I've added free NFL SuperFan to your account. We hope you enjoy your free programming.
For your reference, high definition is some of the most expensive programming we carry due to what we pay to distribute it and the bandwidth we use to deliver it. This is why we are unable to offer the HD games for free.
I guess sugar does catch more flies than vinegar. :)

A win is a win. I don't care if it was 30-6 or 10-6. :D
Some of your posts, a cooling off period and reflecting upon what I have learned about human nature through life experience and training in psychology have swayed me to reconsider my approach. I think either approach may work, but I am not a good angry customer and do not wish to get frustrated even further. I'll try the "kindness" tact and hopefully will have this saga peacefully end soon.

No Superbowl but at least they're not 0-2. And yes that was a cheap shot by Rogers on Ben only it looks like he weighs about 400.
I finally got my superfan added again today. It had been on my account since before the season started. I think there was an issue with the free superfan in week 1. It was a painless 2 minute call this morning...
Go Steelers!!!!!!:D
Well, it finally happened. I was more neutral than nice, but the lady was very kind and asked me not to tell anyone she had done this for me (Sorry lady! :)).
I explained to her that I used to get free HD games before SuperFan came around and that I am not interested in any of the channels but the HD games. She said D* probably will not waive this fee anytime soon because lots of people just pay it. She also said it renews automatically next year so I guess I will be calling them again next Spring. ;)
It seems that someone needs to organize a petition or class action suit or something. Oh well, at least I finally have the HD channels again and I didn't have to pay them an extra $100.
BTW, thanks to all who responded with words of advice and encouragement. Let's keep track of this and see what happens next year. I envision us having to call back to keep this as a 0$ item in our setups. ;)
