Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher announced earlier today that Kerry Collins will continue to be the starting QB for the team,as long as they keep winning.
I sense a QB controversy will be on for awhile in Nashville.

I would save any judgement on Collins' performance until they see how he plays against an actual NFL defense, not the Bungals. I was at the game (ashamed to admit I am a Bungals Season Ticket buyer) and I don't think they got close to him more than 3 times, plus when you can run the ball down the other team's throat (another common thing to do to the Bungals) your QB doesn't have nearly as much pressure to perform.

The Titans have Houston this week so it may not be much of a test for him either but week 4 is Minnesota, he'll definitely be tested in that game if not before.

Kerry Collins is hard to read. He looked good in college, particularly during Penn St's undefeated season. He looked good at Carolina when they went to the NFC Championship back in the day (lost to Green Bay who won the Superbowl that year)... then again he looked good again with New York the year they went to the Superbowl, but looked horrible in that game losing to the Ravens.

He seems to either be great or horrible... and not much in between.

I honestly don't know if I'd call it a QB "controversy." Young isn't physically able to play right now and, frankly, he's not been performing well enough to be the starter. Collins isn't the long-term solution for the Titans but he does seem to have the confidence of his teammates.

Young's TD/INT ratio last year was 9-17. In 2006, it was 12-13. His numbers simply aren't stellar. His preseason didn't inspire confidence, either.

I believe Fischer's approach is a good one. Give Young time to learn without the pressure of having to perform every week under center. Young has lots of potential and hopefully he'll take advantage of this opportunity and come back as a better QB.

I guess I don't call it a controversy when the player that performs better is the starter. But I guess it's referred to as a "controversy" when the bigger name (or assumed starter) is replaced by one that gets the job done.

The last sentence in your reply "hit the nail on the head",IMO.

Vince Young begins working his way back onto the team as the backup QB.
Titans head coach Jeff Fisher is still sticking to his plan to keep Kerry Collins as the starting QB for the franchise.

4-0. Don't mess with what's working.

Agreed.To quote an old saying,
"If it's not broke, don't fix it."

If Collins gets them to the playoffs, there will be no controversy.
