Question the signal strength on my Sony HD 200 is SAT A=91 B = 84 C=84. However, when I check my signal on my other receivers (RCA’s) SAT A=98 B & C = 96. Why such a difference on my Sony? Is there something extra I need to do to my Sony? My receiver was manufactured in 11/2002 current software = 7/12/2002 MP0.08300

Also, I’m using the 3 LNB 18 by 20 dish from Trek.

The signal strength meters in satellite receivers vary in scale from make to make and even model to model. They are all displaying a "relative" value. There is no standard SS scale.

They are usefull for "peaking" an antenna for best SS on the various "birds" but the actual SS will still vary from transponder to transponder as well.

You want the highest SS you can get to minimize outages but don't be worried if the numbers vary from model to model or transponder to transponder.

Sometimes it also could be the length of cable or condition of cable as well. I would agree and back up HT guy too.

To follow up on this, I noticed something similar when I recently upgraded to the HD-200 in my living room. I get good signal strength on the 200, but my other receivers give freaky information when I check the signal strength on them (they're Sony as well.) When I check signal on the non-HD receivers, I get a big peak (around 88-90) then the signal disappears and jumps back up. It does this the whole time I'm checking signal.

This doesn't happen on the HD-200 so I assume that I have a good alignment on the dish. Any input on this?

I have had this happen myself. Not with the HD-200, but with other brands. You could either have bad receivers, a short in the line or could be the LNB might be going bad and has enough energy for your HD-200. Your alignment looks alright. These are usually the solutions I have done in the past what I mentioned above. You can also try just disconnecting your HD-200 and then check the other receivers see what that does. Hopefully this helps.
