HDVR2 Start Recording OVer

Just switched to D* from E* because of the possible Dishplayer monthly PVR fee. I really like the DirecTivo, but I can't seem to figure one thing out . . .

How do I start a recording over from the beginning? I know I could rewind it, but on the Displayer there was an option to start the recording over from the beginning. Does an option like this exist for the DirecTivo?

It doesn't have a start over button.

Try this: If you're in the middle of the recording, press the ff button (long, narrow button to the right of the yellow pause button. When it starts to ff, press the right arrow button (the one used for thirty second skip, when enabled). This will skip to the next tick mark. Keep pressing until all of the ticks are jumped. At the last tick you can get to the start by pressing the right arrow key once more.

I hope I explained it clearly enough.

Thanks TerryC, you explained it very well. It also works the opposite way . . .

1. hit rew
2. While Rewinding hit the 30-Second skip button
3. This will take you back to the previous tick mark

Don't use the Directv grid-style guide. It manages to suck and blow at the same time.

The TiVo-style guide is much faster and, once you get used to it, much easier to navigate. Try it for a while and you'll never go back to the grid.

Is Dish network going to charge a monthly fee for the pvr's like the 508 and 721 also?

AFAIK, no. They are supposed to begin charging monthly fees for Dishplayers in May or June, but their other PVR's are still fee free.

I owned both a 501 and DirecTiVo at the same time, and using 2 DirecTiVos is worth the extra $4.99 a month IMHO.
