DirecTV carries a lot of sports packages, and I'm wondering how they fit all those games on the TP's at 101...which seems to be pretty full. I think I understand how this works, but I wanted a check on whether I do or not.
In some cases, like for the NBA and MLB packages, the feeds are "remapped" from games on Fox Sports Regionals on CONUS TP's. NO extra bandwidth used. In many cases, though, the games are not remapped...they either come from outside the US or they come from an OTA station that is not on a CONUS TP. These games are jammed onto an existing TP--wherever there is "floating" space. (Example: For an English Premier League Soccer, the live video feed is imported from a long ways off. It is then "jammed" onto a TP, and then arbitrarily assigned either channel 718 or 719.) Am I right?
