Its a great deal because it has the channels I use, even if ou have to add a $10/mo international channel.
Does it require a diff dish than the slimline?
Can you still get the HD versions of the channels it offers?

I assume you mean that you prefer CHoice, instead of Premier of Choice EXtra, since there is no package called "Prefered Choice". No, you don't need a seperate/different dish. YOu do, however, need a different one for internationals. You get all the HD versions of the included channels for an additinoal $9.99 for the HD pack, which can be added to any package.

Technically, can't be added. They just automatically add it if you activate an HD receiver, and no way to turn it off.

We all know what happens when we assume. ;)

OK, my bad. I don't know much about the international stuff.

I just signed up for this package yesterday, really like the prices and has most everything we watch (will miss ESPNEWS and NFL Network). Had to call twice, the first CSR would not switch me without including a $14.99 international package. The second rep was much nicer an added it with MYX channel for $4.99. I also keep my locals, HD, and HD essentials. So I am saving close to $30 a month on this!!

The Preferred Choice package is great. You have made a wise choice, especially since you like the channels included. The price will go up $3 bucks in March, but then again, so will their other packages.
I've had the International packages since July and am very, very happy with them.

What is the dish requirement for this package?

If you don't want the International station that you are signing up for you don't need an additional dish. For example I just waived the installation of a new dish and just have my slimline.

I tried two different CSRs. Both told me I needed to add an international package and just couldn't do the one channel for $4.99. The cheapest international package is $14.99. I'm currently on Total Choice Plus at $54.99. Preferred Choice with the cheapest international package comes to $47.98. This would have saved some money. When thet CSR asked why I wanted to change packages, I told her I thought the Preferred Choice was a better value for my viewing needs and would free up some money to add another movie channel. She was kind enough to give me HBO free for 3 months, Starz and Showtime for 3 months and the HD charge free for 1 year! I'm very happy she gave me the deal and will gladly accept it. However, I really wish they offered the Preferred Choice. The Family Pack doesn't have the ESPN or CNN. I think Preferred is a great package which should be available to all!

Those 2 CSR's were ignorant of the International program. Here is the direct number to the International ordering desk, 1-800-378-3309. They will accept your order for just the $4.99 MYX channel, and the Preferred Choice package. Good to hear you received some discounts for your trouble, but you can still get what you want by calling the above direct number, and speak to the International CSR's.

They would not let me make the change with just the MYX channel, it no longer qualifies.

I would come with the worldirect dish. IF you can waive it while upgrading it is ok. You can always try to convince the tech to just install a regular dish. He should be happy to oblige since the worldirect is a SOB.
