UPS for DVR

My UPS on my Directv DVR died so I'm thinking of replacing it, but have one question first. If the power fails and does not come on before the UPS fails does the UPS turn back on again after the power returns. I would hate to be away from home for a few days only to return and find my DVR had missed all its scheduled recordings due to the UPS not coming back on. This thought makes me think I might be better off without one. Thoughts anyone......

Any one I have ever used does restart itself. I'm not sure they all work that way though.

The ones I have used also will start back up again once the pwoer is restored. Even with a full discharge.

I don't believe that I have seen a UPS that does not come back on after power loss / depletion of batteries.

I have however seen some APC Smart UPS's that allow you to set things of which one used to be that it wouldn't come back on.

You could also set the percentage of charge it would have to have before turning the load back on which is good if you are using them for a clean shutdown of a server.
