i REMEMBER reading that locals for DMA #43 NORFOLK, VA were scheduled to launch in OCTOBER.
is there any estimate on which week of OCTOBER our locals will launch??

Has anyone heard when the Fargo-Valley City ND DMA will get HD?

LILS are slowly being added on DirecTV online program guide at DirecTV.com :)
They have filtered in throughout the day. :D So far only the major 4 networks are showing up, this could however change in the next 24 hrs or so.

While i am not entirely positive, i would think Wednesday. The channels would have to be active on your receiver in order to see the guide data.

If Norfolk DMA gets HD locals on Wed......it will be a glorious day. Its only been about 2 years (?) since I first heard this would happen. I have an OTA antenna, but its not always 100% reliable (its in my attic). It will be nice to have them from the Dish..with the antenna as the backup.
I guess we'll wait and see (with no offense to Sat Racer....its just that we've all heard this many times before)

As i reported earlier, this could change however over the next 24hrs or so. Even the Big 4 is a welcomed addition. Can't understand though why WGNT would not go live. I was under the impression that it was owned by CBS.
yea WGNT would be nice!!! what about WTVZ.. cable and Vz just added it.. if we got it that would be outstanding and well worth the 2 year wait.

I am not quite sure of the validity of the "online guide" at this point. If all goes well, we will find out on Wednesday. If these two stations are not included, then i am quite certain there is a valid reason. DirecTV wants us to have all the local programming possible but i also believe that grabbing agreements with the Big 4 is at the top of the list. We all will be satisfied in due time. :)

I went to add local channels (Norfolk) to my package since I don't have them now but I can't see anywhere to add them. I select change package and all the packages shown have no locals. Anyone have any idea how to add locals via the website?

SD Locals are included in the package. HD Access Fee of $9.99 is required for HD Lils.
Wow, that was close. I had "buy a better OTA antenna" on my to do list today. :)

Yea but I have a no locals package right now so I don't get any local channels. I didn't need them before because I had an antenna and could get HD locals via it. Now I want the HD local channels via Directv (the antenna can be spotty sometimes) and it won't let me do it online. Everytime I select change package all I am shown are packages with no locals.
Now I do have the HD access so I wonder if that will let me get the local HD channels once they come on, even if I don't currently get the SD locals. If that's the case that's even better.

WUPV in the Richmond DMA is the same way, it is owned by the NBC affiliate (or they have the same parent company) but only NBC12 went live with HD LIL. But hey I'm like you just happy to have the big 4!

Same here I will be happy just getting the big 4 finally. It has been a long wait. Of course with the info from Satracer and seeing the guide data on Directv.com is a very good sign I would hope.

The channels have to be active on your receiver in order to see the guide data. This will happen once they are lit, hopefully in the morning. ;)

Yep they are up and now finally the Directv site let me add locals.
So far I can't tell any difference in pic quality between the OTA digital locals and getting them via Directv now. :)

LILS looking very good here :) except no closed captioning.
We're no longer the largest DMA w/o HD LILs on DirecTV and DISH...

Make sure you go into your favorites list and select the channels.

I was kind of hoping that we'd be able to get extra channels such as the WAVY weather channel, which digital-cable customers can get. Oh well.

Probably pretty low. They might be saving spot beam coverage, bandwidth, or equipment to get as many HD LiLs DMAs as they can. I would get guess maybe the next go around they could add PBS, CW, and other networks. If D12 will equipped similiar to D10 and D11, then maybe D12 could help out with HD LiLs as well as get us to the national 200 HD channels.

When/Will channel 33 be offered in HD? It's irritating that I have to get ACC basketball games in HD over the air on that channel rather than through DirecTV.

I don't believe that he was holding back any info as he seems to be searching for an answer also. Hopefully it will come but for the time being, just enjoy what we do have. :)
Many DMA's still have none at all and some are struggling with just a few or have been patiently waiting just as we did for the LILS to go live.

33 in HD on DirectTV can't come quickly enough. I'm getting sick of having to get the ACC games over the air. And if I want to watch it again, it has to be HD since I can't use the DVR to record over-the-air programming.
Also, even over the air, the HD feed didn't kick in until 10 minutes into the UNC-Duke game last night.
