A free ride may be over for dish subs - at least for now. NBA TV is now showing the "subscription channel" lockout screen on ch. 402 as of tonight 6:15 pm PT.

I still have NBA TV. Maybe it is blacked out in certain areas? I have the everything pack, maybe it is included in that.

When it was originally annouced, the ONLY packages NBA-TV was to be included in was AEP & the Multisports pak.
I did have it even on my system that does NOT even have an AT pkg, (nets only) & have now lost it.

As I remember, the original plan was to include it in Everything Pack, Multi-Sport Pack, and NBALP only. Perhaps dish has regressed.
Not that it mattered much to me. I still got to see my Sonics through the usual means, and they are a sad lot this year.

The channel FINALLY went to what it was originally announced it was going to be. NBA TV was on an extended freeview. It ended today (Wednesday).
Right now
Channel 402 is on AEP and Multi-Sport Packages ONLY
Channel 560 is on NBA League Pass ONLY
Again, this is nothing new. It was announced when the channel was added to the system. And the $2 increase (which ALL providers nationwide did in one form or another) was mostly to cover the cost of the Disney channels (ESPN in particular), Viacom channels (TNT and their wonderful NBA stuff--remember the spat with some cable cos and Dish over TNT?) and other sports channels. And before some one tells me that DirecTV didn't raise their price, try to get Select Choice now. It's gone. It went away to get more revenue from their subscribers. And there was only ONE package that didn't go up in price this year. All others went up the same 2 bucks or more as everyone else.
No one is immune from the sports price hyper-inflation!

I thought i was getting rid of the cable pirates when i dumped comcast for dish. I guess Mr Ergin is just as greedy as the rest of the big boys.A 2 dollar increase with absolutely nothing to show for it What a scam!!! Atleast they got college sports network on Direct. We didnt get anything at all!!

There is no way people who disagree with the above statement can be taken seriously anymore. Choice Plus is a good value. But Top 150 with HBO/CINEMAX is for me a great value - my price WENT DOWN $2. That is called choice of service. If you are a Dish subscriber and still think the $2 increase is somehow unwarrented and excessive - it is time to switch providers. There will certainly be more increases in coming years, perhaps if you are a Direct TV subscriber you will be complaining about their increases then.
PS- Thank-you Charlie for keeping NBATV free as long as you did.

My TC+ w/locals didn't go up, still $39.99. You can't beat that.

Read tampa8's post above.

I am agreeing with you. It is indeed a good value. I am also pointing out that Dish also did not raise all packages - the same channels I was receiving before the increases are now $2 LESS. Again, choice of what is better for you - but to simply keep pointing to TC+ (not directed at you - others -) to "prove" Direct is a better value is incorrect. To get what is included in the Top 150 with HBO/CINEMAX is more expensive thru Direct. In comparing TC+ with Top 100 - TC+ is a better deal.

So... I just want to get NBA-TV. What is cheaper, getting AEP or MultiSport Package? Sorry to lazy to look it up. I currently am only paying for AT50 (promotion to get my equipment cheap and installation free), HBO and SHO (for their HD channels), and DISCOVERY-HD.

Well....the Sports package is only available if you have AT100 or higher. AEP costa $75 buck a month.
So the cheapest way to upgrade to AT100 and add the $5 sports pack. You're looking at about $38 a month.

Now the Multi Sport Pak is $6. I don't understand why NBA TV is just not put in AT150, not that I will really miss the channel or anything.

Steve, you're correct. The sports package is $5.99 now.

But the price Dish charges its customers has no direct relation to Charlie's salary, channel fees, the rising water rates in Denver, or any other cost. Dish sets its prices to maximize profits, period.
Every time there's a rate increase, it's a popular tactic to blame rising costs that are being passed on to the consumer. But prices rarely come down when costs drop (see music CDs circa 1990), and prices are never raised above consumers' collective willingness to pay. That's just good business, and that's what Dish is doing.
