Recently had my roof replaced and the Dish installer they hired did not get 119 dialed in correctly. Hate it when I'm not home to check up on these guys. Anyway, it's only at 44% signal strength and the signal drops. My question is since there are two dishes which one gets 119? One is pointing SW and the other W.
Thanks,
Mike

From the information you have provided I can't tell you but I would suggest disconnecting the cable coming from one dish and check your signal strenght meter to see which satellite location it affects. If you lose the 119 signal you found the right dish.

If you're getting 110 and 119 the one pointing more to the west should be 119. Do you have a dish 500 with an extra dish for international or HD? It almost sounds like this is what you might have if you do have one pointing west (at 148).

The one pointing more to the right is the one that is receiving 119. The trees or the leaves could be resulting in the low signal strength or just a simple inacuracy in fine tuning the adjustment bolts on the dish to pick up the signal to its full potential. Also there is a different signal strength on each transponder you switch to on the signal strength screen.

Just a note, installers are usually all independant and they only get paid if they hook it up. To them, quality is not an issue but they generally will hook up as best as possible. So the trees you mentioned probably are the problem and the installer knows it, but as far as he's concerned, you have a picture and he WILL get paid. I have directv with 3 lnb and I get Sat A(101), Sat C(110), but not Sat B(119) due to a large tree standing in the way of the southern satellite. Move the dish if possible.

I always try to put the dish in a location where there will be no problems in the future so that I will not have to come out and move it again. If I see that there is going to be a future problem I will tell the customer of the posibilities of one.
