View Full Version : Problem Getting Every Other Transponder

I have a 3LNB dish on a tripod that I use for tailgating. I have never had a problem before but this weekend I could only get constant signal strength on every other transponder for satellite at 101. When just looking at the signal meter on the first transponder it would show 80-90% for 5 seconds and then go away without me adjusting anything.

With that problem, the receiver would never finish the setup and populate the guide, so I couldn't get any channels.

Is it possible I am doing something wrong or is the LNB bad?

Thanks.

I had that happen when, in the set-up menu, 6x8 switch had been selected rather than 4x4. If a receiver is set for 6x8, it will send out DiSEqC switching commands that confuse a 3-LNB dish, whereas if it is set for 4x4, it uses the voltage and tone controls that your dish antenna needs.

I have been told that with some receivers, if you slecct 3 LNB rather than 5 LNB in the set-up menu, there will not even be a chouce between 4x4 and 6x8 switch, but YMMV.

Thanks for the response. I choose 3LNB and there is no option for multiswitch type. I have an h21.

Bumping to see if anyone else had any other ideas.

How 'bout an intermittent connector?

I had a similar problem on my first DTV install in 99. I could get 2 receivers going, but one I powered on the 3rd, I lost 1/2 of the transponders. I redid all my cable ends and the problem went away.

Had this problem once. Turned out it was a splitter somewhere in the line.
