771 On Locals

Regular channels are OK, but keep getting 771 on Locals, especially NBC (WJAR, Providence). To me signals seem fine.

Do you mean your HiDef Locals or SD Locals?

Yes, they're more than fine. Usually an issue somewhere in the chain from the local station mpeg2 to DirecTV mpeg4. 771's though, are a different matter.

I thought they looked ok too. I wish there was a way to know what SAT and TP WJAR-DT was on.

You obviously have a multi-switch. First step: bypass it for testing on up to four tuners with double-female barrel adapters, connecting directly to the dish lines.

:lol: Both. Tough to troubleshoot without direct replacement, if that's in fact the problem. Is it yours, or did DirecTV install it?

I live in RI as well, same thing was happening to me. I have been seeing quite a bit of pixelation during the past week. Any word when the providence stations will do their local newscast in hd?

Hearing that it is not just me is VERY comforting.

BTW, I sent an email to WJAR asking about local newscast in HD and got no response.

Don't mean to hijack, but in Maine I'm having the same issues on my locals in HD, intermittent 771 errors that come up for about 1-3 seconds, then the picture comes back up and everything is dandy. this has been happening for the past week or so. I get no pixalation, the picture and sound just drop and the 771 comes up for a sec.

I have signals all above 80 on the 99's and 103's (minus the spotbeams of course).

Same issues! .............we are also in Maine. Seems to have started in the last weeks as well. We do get some pixalation too.
