Back in 2003, I had a DirecTV system installed. Go figure.... we have TWO people in the house, with THREE receivers, and four lines.

We are now needing to disconnect one of the lines and have a new line run from the dish to a second-floor bedroom. It'll probably be a drill a hole in the wall and run a brand new line. Since it is second story, no way I am going to do it. How much does an installer charge for this, and (panic) will I have to sign a new two year commitment?

Is it just a relocation? I believe they charge something like $69 for a relocation of a receiver.

No new contract if you are just moving a receiver you already have.

why to they make you pay for that when they will move you for free?

Because with movers connection they leave the dish/wiring at the house you are moving from. They hope the new owners will hookup with Directv since everything is already there and wired.

That and they want to keep you as a customer as many times when people move they will change services (Phone, TV, Electric, etc.).
