Yes, folks, according to Dish Network website (http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/customercare/charlie_chat/), the next Charlie Chat will be on April 14th at 9 PM ET/6 PM PT. It will be interesting what Charlie and Jim will be talking about concerning HDTV, Wink Interactive, FSN Ohio, and ESPN-HD.... or not.
As always, there is the Chat room, which is sometimes more interesting than the Charlie Chat itself.
And, don't forget, the Charlie Chat Drinking Game (http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12885).

What would we do without you, Z'Loth. 2 months in a row now, you start the Charlie Chat thread. I guess we need to pay better attention.
Thread stickyied by me. If you have questions for the chat, post them here! The Dish Network folks will be checking the thread.
Wht aren't they haveing a technical chat?

Every three months, the technical chat replaces the Charlie Chat.

I say flood the email box with FoxSportsOhio questions. Don't let him dodge them. Pretty soon, the majority of customers won't be getting their full sports programming at a higher rate than DirecTV with full sports programming. If they are losing half the Indians this year, I'm sure the Red Wings are next, next year.

The next Technical Chat is next month in April, the last one was in January.

Oops, still not used to April, I am one month off, I meant the last Tech Chat was in February and the next one is next month in which is May. I thought something did not seem right.

Prediction for Charlie Chat...
New international channels will be announced
New LIL will be announced
We will be the leader in HDTV but somehow neglect to mention any new channels
921 is coming soon, but we do not know when
You really need to get a 8psk module for your 6000

Charlie - "We are always working to add new channels, and we have quite an announcement for you fans of adult channels. We have added Spice to the line-up. Here to talk about this new channel, our special guest, Bill Clinton."
Bill - "Thanks Charlie. What with Hillary running things now in the Senate, it's hard to spend time with her. I've developed a reputation as being somewhat of a sleeze bag, so when I can't meet any fine ladies, I turn it to this fine network to spice things up a bit. Hehe. I'm telling you. My presidential staff..."
Charlie - OKAY. How about that 8PSK module? Don't we have that on sale still? Let me check with my peanut gallery. Okay.

Okay. I'll shut up now. LOL. I hope that he does announce or at least acknowledge College Sports TV. I would really like that channel.

How many channels will Charlie diss this time? And which ones?
Possibilities include College Sports TV, Trio, PBS Kids, Oxygen, HBO Zone, YES, Fox Sports Ohio, and many more.
Although there was only one diss last month, my guess remains: 3.

HBO Zone really isn't necessary. He's right on that one.

He really does not need the HBO western feeds for the exact same reason.. but he has no problem carrying them..Must be some other secret reason

More infomercial channels! :p
If they cut my Red Wing games next year, I wouldn't need to leave Dish, my wife would do it before I could reach for the phone.
Also, I can just see him trying to blame the latest outage on the merger falling through.

OK, Dish if you really are reading this, you need to extend the sale date of your 8psk module beyond the end of April, because until you announce some kind of package HD deal, I will not buy one.

If they want the business they do what it takes with promotions just as they do with new customers. Them charging for these HD channels is just like having a new customer again for a new product therefore they should give them a promotion to help drive sales for that product and programming.
I hope Charlie talks about the YES network. I would really like to know what's going on.
Is there any hope of getting Trio?
Adam Richey

For some reason, I think that if we get Trio, it will be bundled with Newsworld International since I believe they are owned by the same company. I have NO problem with that, and am waiting on Dish to add both.

I see no serious discussion in this thread and I understand why. Dish may read this thread, but I have never seen anything on Charlie Chat that resembled an answer to any of our questions. Lots of Luck!

Trio bundled w/ NI would be great! Fine Living would be nice, too.
Dear Echostar:
1. Add College Sports TV.
2. Get Fox Sports West 2 off of a spotbeam and add it to the Multi-sport Package.
3. Rework your FSOH deal so *all* the Indians games are available. (Doesn't personally affect me, but I'm sure many viewers want this.)
4. Add YES network (see #3).
5. Rework your deal with the FSNets so we can see MLB replays in the clear (current replays are blacked out on Dish, but not on DirecTV.)
I understand not all of the above may be possible while trying to keep programming costs down (esp. #4), but I'm hoping that you are at least continuing to work on the above issues.

How do you plan to compete with Directv once Rupert gets control of it?

04-11-03, 11:13 AM
Someone should ask Dishnetwork at Charlie Chat to expand somewhat on upcoming 100 (or so) International New Channels...
Which location they'd be?
What equipment would be required for those? etc...

I request COLLEGE SPORTS TV, and get Fox Sports Net2 on the Sports Pack!
FTA Michael

Darkman, be careful what you wish for. They might get that plasma TV dude from the tech chat to drone on about transponders for 30 minutes. :crying:
They need to keep Fox Sports Net and Fox Sports Net 2 in the 150 channel lineup in the Los Angeles market.
Thanks,
Gary
I would like some YES info.. If it aint happening, fine, I'm tired of waiting I'll probably jump ship. If you have a shot, maybe I'll stick around

I wish they would add "Goodlife TV" and the other Suite MTV, VH-1 Themed channels. Gosh, our Local Cable System has those.

I really want to hear and end to the excuses and see the addition of Trio and PBS Kids. I'd much rather my kids get to see Clifford, etc above Spongebob, Ed Ed & Eddie and all the other trash on the cartoon channels. Thank goodness for Boomerang anyway. It'd be nice to see Boomerang added to at100. Also, how bout a scaled down at150 WITHOUT ALL THE extra movie channels and sports nets, say call it the AT100 DISCOVERY CHANNEL PACKAGE. If I downgraded from AT 150, I'd miss the discovery channels and Boomerang but that's about all. The package is hardly worth the extra $10.00 per month. Also, how bout some package pricing with STARZ or something. Not all of us want HBO and/or Cinnemax since Starz is the movie leader (at least for now). Then just give me my Johnstown/Altoona PA Locals and I'll be tickled pink! That's my wish list!!!
Anyone think the chat ran much smoother without Charlie? Brian did an EXCELLENT job, he is so much more professional than Charlie. I think Jim/Brian should stay a permanent combo. Charlie rambles too much and wastes time on these chats, notice how many more questions were asked tonight than usual?

Just for the record: No new HDTV announcements. The Senior VP of Programming was asked and replied that Summer/Fall would likely be the next additiion of HD programming.
ugh!
