We have 3 receivers, an sd and 2 H20's. We frequently lose hd signals sometimes in even a mild rain. I suspect a dish (5 lnb) alignment problem. Before I run up a service call fee, what signal strengths should I be seeing on a clear day, off the different sattelites? My fault for not having the protection plan, but who knew, and I could see myself kicking myself if I had it and needed no service calls. Thanks.

What are your signals on 99a and 103b?

I'm sure someone else will chime in, but those are very low readings. As they are all 'national' signals (not spot beams) they should be at a minimum of 80+, with a few upwards of 95.

If you have the Protection Plan, avail yourself of it. If you think you can tweak it in yourself, others here will give advice as to how.

Not horrible by any means, but they could be higher. I tend to shoot for mid-high 80s/low 90s on 99/103.

Seems like many installers get around those numbers you have though. Mostly because they get 99/103 based on 119/101 because many installers do not have meters that can read the 99/103 sats.

Thanks...Do you think it worth paying for a truck roll?

I dont think they will roll a truck as their minimum is 70 or 60 I believe.

They may since it will be on his nickel.

With some of your 103b signals well below 70 they should. You might try adding the protection plan then set up the service call.

Take it from me, just claim it is under 70 on the phone. When the inster shows he/she will just get on the roof and fine toon the signal. He/she won't come look first.

I actually had an installer come in today for this. But since the box outage stuff happened on my HR22, he didn't check the signal. I went from 70-80 to 80-90 according to my wife (I'm at work). I even got free Superfan when I set up the appt.

Not good at all, in my opinion. You should probably be able to get high 80s to mid 90s wiht a plumb mast.

Glad to hear it - that sounds more like good results. Check both 99 and 103.
