Strange. I also have an HR20-100 and am having nearly the exact problem. Only having issues on 101W on tuner 2.

I was getting the same type of problem with a HR20-100 the tech came and swapped it out with a HR21-100 and the problem went away. I suspected that my media center PC was causing the problem but I could not confirm it.

interesting and strange indeed. since I have the protection plan, maybe I'll give them a call. I can't seem to pinpoint anything really.

Check all channels between 480-494 to verify reception.

Check, and possibly rerun satellite setup.

Try swapping coax inputs, check all connections on any multiswitch, grounding block, and lastly, if you are technically able to realign dish if you goof it up, check connections on the LNB.

If all that checks out, read the cutting edge forum and consider participating in the beta test program and see if the current beta software might fix it.

That should mean you have a bad BBC(s). DirecTV will send you replacement for free.

I had a spare set. Changed them out, and we're good to go. Thanks to everyone here!! that's why I love this place. Thanks again! :)

since they will 2 day ship them for free its a good idea to get replacements sent for your spares. I keep 4 in standby at all times..cats attacking that darn coax do funny things to bbc's.

I think my box is bad or something, it was working fine with my spare set for about an hour, then it started again, on those same random channels I mentioned in my first post. I think Tuner 2 is shot or something. I'm not sure why it would work for awhile, then stop. any thoughts? Interesting that none of the HD channels ever go out. the usual 70-75 channels do the searching for satellite too. every other one.

I think I'm going to call to see if the box is bad. I'm suspsecting Tuner 2 is the porblem after having 2 sets of BBCs on ,and then it would work for a while and then go back to searching for singal on satelitte....

OK ... we are getting the intermittent dropouts on the LILs (771 error).. We believe those LILs are coming from 99 & 103 - CORRECT? Right now eveything is working fine and these are what the test settings look like... Does anyone see anything wrong with these??? I guess we should check these values the next time it goes out.

480 = Correct HD Dish Setup. 103 B-Band Odd (13v)
481 = B-Band Even (18v). BBC Confirmed working.
482 = Correct HD Dish Setup. 99 B-Band Odd.
483 - Correct HD Dish Setup. 99 B-Band Even.

490 = "Test 1 SAT A (101) Odd Txp 13v"
491 = "Test 2 SAT A (101) Even Txp 18v"
492 = "Test 3 SAT B (119) Odd Txp 13v"
493 = "Test 4" SAT B (119) Even Txp 18v
494 = "Test 5 SAT C (110) Even Txp 18v"

FWIW: I beleive the SFO locals are coming from the Ka-Hi @ 103(s) and since they're "hi" don't use the BBC, so you could remove them for a test.

I really think the problem here is software. It seems to have started on my hr20-100 with the last national release. I reran the satellite setup today and it seems to have fixed the problem for now but the signal strength on satelitte 101 tuner 2 is anywhere from 20 - 30 points lower than tuner 1.

I switched BBCs and swithched the lines but it didn't help. I have 2 r15s and they don't have this problem.

I suspose they'll make me buy the protection plan when I call to have this replaced. I wouldn't mind if the device went bad, things do break, but I think their software is what caused the problem.

By the way, channel 490 tested out fine the first time I checked, of course it was checking tuner 1. When I started to record on another station and went back to channel 90 I got the 771 error.
