Blu-Ray on SD TV

I was in Costco yesterday, and noticed that BluRay Live players were around $279. (WOW!)

However, I lack a HD TV. Can I still set up the player so that I can play BluRay discs on a SD TV? I can set the screen to be 16:9 black bars.

The $279 player at my local Costco is a 1.0 machine.

Did you happen to ascertain what output options the unit has? If it has S-VHS or RCA video out, you should be able to make it work.
