I'm on the DHP with a 301 and 501 which is about to end. I've moved in with my family who is also on the DHP with 4 301's. Since I moved I've just kept paying my bill rather than pay the cancellation charges. I disconnected 1 of my family's receivers and connected my 501. With my DHP ending I plan to cancel so I don't have the extra bill. I still want to have a 501 though. Couple questions for you guys before I call Dish. Can you have 5 receivers on a DHP? Everything I've seen for it has stated up to 4 tvs (receivers). If so, would Dish let me keep my existing 501 and add it to my family's account? I'd hate to lose the programming I have recorded already. Then I'd just send back my 301. Or should I return both my 301 and 501 and get a new 501/508 from Dish for my family's account? If I could get a 508 then I wouldn't mind losing the recordings on my 501. A third option is buying a 721 :) Also, I plan to hook the one receiver back up so need a switch for the 5th receiver. Which switch do I need? The dish is a DP and there are 4 lines coming off it. Thanx guys!

If you cancel your DHP acct you will have to return both of the rcvrs you lease or pay the normal MSRP to buy one. I think it would make more sense for your family to upgrade one of their 301s to a PVR. They can add up to 2 more rcvrs to their acct if you or they elect to buy one but of course that would mean installing another switch or dish. Any additional rcvrs (i.e., #'s 5 and/or 6) will be owned instead of leased but they will still be covered by the DHP In Home Service Plan.

We have six receivers on our account, which I was told was the maximum on one account. Four of them are on the DHP(maximum allowed) and the other two we had to buy. Only the four receivers on the DHP were covered for problems. We had to get the extended warranty for $1.99/month I think to cover the two we bought.

Thanks for the info/advice. If I have to buy the reciever I just might go with the 721 then. Any word on when the new PVR's will be out?
