Wow, that's the lowest price I've ever seen for this set. A pretty good deal indeed...

And will continue to advance and go down in price. I am waiting for the flat screen plasma tv's to do the same.

Today's (Friday 4/11/03) Fry's ad has a 47" Panasonic RPTV for $999, quantities limited, no rainchecks, 1 per customer. Must be a blow out for new product coming in, but this is a fantastic price for this set.

That's a great price. Companies may be preparing for the onslought of rear panel LCD, LCOS, and DLP coming this summer, at much lower prices than previously expected .

Is that $999 47 inch bigscreen a HD tv or just analog? I have seen them new for $800 or $900 before advertised on tv and in the paper.

I can't say fer shure, but the 47" Panny I am most familiar with is 16:9 HDTV monitor model: PAN PT47WX42 shown below

Panasonic 47"HDTV Monitor
Model PT47WX42

If this is the unit referred to by DarrellP, then $999 is a pretty amazing price. When I first noticed this model about six months ago, it was $1,599 locally at CC and is currently listed at $1,399 on the CC website.

(As a suggeston, when we are posting info on specific TV models, it would be a good idea to post the model # also.)

That seems like a good deal.

That's the baby! Normal price was $1399, that's why I think it's a clearance since it was limited to stock on hand and no rainchecks.

Both the Mits and the Panny are at awesome pricing!

Remember that the Mits has a 25% red push, and "catagorically" speaking the Panny sets are "terrible" out of the box. Both look outstanding once set up correctly.

Here's (http://www.uecweb.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=UECAM&Category_Code=T) an authorized Hitachi site that sells refurbs. If you don't want the latest and greatest, you can get one heck of a deal here.

In case you're wondering, they are authorized by Hitachi as a web reseller and have a decent reputation via posts at Hometheaterspot.com.
