I feel badly for the the people that are having problems. We want to figure out what is going on with your DVRs to help you get the most out of it.

Some of the things that can help us help you is as complete a description of your setup as possible. We need things like dish type. Installer or self-install. Type of cabling (RG6 vs. RG59). How many feet of cable between Dish and either multi-switch or DVR. type of cable-end connectors? (crimp or compression) Dish grounded? DVR? Using surge protectors or not. Networked? if so how? What DVR? HR20? 21? 22?

The more information the better. This is a vary complex environment and no installation is exactly like the others. Even small things make a difference.

For example, many of the 771 errors are caused by bad or failing BBCs. Replacing them (free of charge from DirecTV) often fixes this problem.

I would ask the the other "regulars" to add to this thread the items that we would want to ask when troubleshooting problems.

The only problem that I am having with my HR21-200 with an AM-21 is the slow response with the remote and DVR. I installed the AU-9 with a WB-68. The dish is grounded. There is about 15 feet from the dish to the WB-68. Then 25 feet from the WB-68 to the HR21. I have an OTA in the attic feeding the AM-21. Each cable is using compression fitting on RG-6 cable. No network since I live in the country and I am using a surge protector.

I would add that not using a U.P.S. is asking for problems.
