Hi,
My 501 died :(
I called tech support, and a replacement is on the way. I have to send the old one back, but they said that they will check it to make sure that I didn't break it on purpose.
I didn't do anything to it, but has anybody had a problem with them saying you broke it intentionally?
I am just wondering.
thanks,
Rob

I told Dish that my 2 year old had pulled the 508 off the top of the tv and it busted the front of the reciever and the smart card tore and would not insert. Dish told me the same thing about breaking it on purpose and they would charge me more , but they didn't. Just paid shipping and handling and got another 508 .
The truth was I pulled it off the top of the big screen when I was pulling the coax through the wall to hook up my second tv in the computer room so I could watch tv and be on the computer at the same time. I have 2 silver remotes and this works great. I can keep up with my recorded shows and post on the net. MULTI -TASKING!!

One other thing if you don't have the extended warrenty , GET IT! It is only $1.99 a month and I have sent back many a dishplayer back in the day , and with a 721 and 2 /508s it is a necessity.

Absolutely get the extended warrenty if you are close to the end of your year warrenty. I suspect what Dish is looking for when they say that is to see if you've opened the box up and done something inside of it.

It is still astounding that the CSR would intimate that you might have intentionally damaged it. Of course noone expects to get a CSR with an ounce of common sense.
