The audio always skips/stutters and it ticks me off. Why does it do this? It happens a lot. I normally watch CNN and it happens. It happens on other channels, but not often. Sometimes it does.

I don't know what else to say except pic is fine as is everything else. Obviously using the newest public firmware. This issue also has been since the day i got the service/equip long time ago.

Same issue here. I was wondering if it's their broadcast or my reception. Sounding possibly like their broadcast.

I wondered if it was the dvr itself cus i think it just plain sucks with a lot of things or if it was the feed from dtv.

The next time it happens, try rewinding to before the sound glitch occured, and rewatch that part. If the audio glitch happens again, it means the signal dropped. If the audio is fine this time, it means the reciever screwed up the playback (the issue my HR21 has).

I don't normally have this problem, and I don't normally watch CNN. Last night during the debate, however, I viewed it on CNN and noticed this as well. I have to think that it is their channel and not an overall DTV issue.

I've had this issue with CNN but I usually get it on my locals. Especially Fox.

When ever I've have this problem it's always been specific channels.

I kinda get the impression that it's the broadcast.

Just a guess.

I've noticed that I get ALOT of stuttering during NFL broadcasts on the Fox affiliate here in New Orleans (WVUE) on my HR21 Pro. I've had some occasional hiccups on other stations, but WVUE/FOX seems to be the worst.

All signals in the 90s on all sats, and it happens if I skip back a bit, so I'm going with "it's a problem with the source (not me)."

I have the same problem. Get stuttering on the HD channels. Seems to happen more often on the local HD's.

When I rewind it is still there with the stutter. Signals for 103c & 99c are 95+

Anyone figure it out yet?

thanks

Have been calling directv and complaining. Everyone needs to please, this bug is crazy.

They sent a tech out the other day and he replaced the HR21-200 with a HR22-100 and left. The new one is doing the same audio stuttering thing just as often as the other one, so it cannot be receiver related I am thinking.

Is there a way to contact the real tech department and let them know? Sending emails on their website and calling them is just not working.

I think it could either be the signal they are sending or the receiver is have trouble decompressing the audio and it getting glitches. Maybe the software that is compressing the audio is messing up, I'm not sure, but would like to let the people know that could fix this issue.

In my opinion it is probably happening on most peoples setup, just some people block it out or are not paying attention. My wife does not notice it near as bad as I do.

I have been spending an enormous amount of time "listening" very carefully because I am researching the sound level differences between 2 model DVR's... and am having no stuttering issues whatsoever. That doesn't mean I am questioning your problem, just indicating that it isn't likely a pervasive issue. This may be one of those situations where you are going to have to examine every aspect of your system. You may have to lay out everything you have done to check it on your end, everything DirecTV has done so far and send it all off to the ellen.filipiak@directv.com to get to the bottom of it.

Other threads call this the "Max Headroom" effect. It has been happening off and on for the last several releases.

I get it too on HD channels and CNN does indeed seem to be the biggest problem. I can play back the stutter reliably every time. I also get a little different audio AND picture stutter as a show is ending - seems to occur at the 29.5 minute mark of a 30 minute show. Anyone else?

This is not even close to a recent problem.

This problem has plagued the HR2x's for at least 2 years. Don't take my word for it. Go back two years into these posts. You'll see exactly the same problem being reported over and over and over.

The latest releases have brought it back more frequently. The box has to record audio and video. It should be able to get one of them right.

Please report all issues thoroughly in the issues thread for your receiver.
