Well, a few minutes ago a huge column of tanks rolled into "Paradise Square", the place where we have always seen the pictures filling your screens in the past couple of weeks. All "media minders" have abandoned their posts and the world media is now free to speak as they please. Fox had a quad split screen a few minutes ago that was amazing. First one tank appeared on one screen and within minutes they were everywhere. AMAZING! The people of Baghdad are celebrating and walking along with the tanks. Reporters are interviewing soldiers on the streets. And I have to go away to a meeting. :(

There has also been some amazing footage on the Arabic channels on T5/KU

That should read: reporters are interviewing Marines on the street; not to take anything away from the Army.
I am pleased that it was the Corps that got the photo opportunity, I am of course biased, but they were given a hard slog.

Did you see the Iraqis carrying a sign that said HUMAN SHIELDS GO HOME!?

On the other side of the square, a long hair and some woman protester were trying to get in the face of the liberators.

Zeros harassing heroes.

Pathetic.

I am embarrassed for them.

The war on terror is working!

I saw that! It would take a lot of patience for the US military to put up with those stupid "human shields" with them yelling right in your face like that. I would be tempted to shoot them in the foot or something...

They have just got to get that statue down now, it would be bad Karma not to.

Saddams face is now been covered with an American flag! This is GREAT television.

The flag waving makes me a little uncomfortable. I understand the thought, but it doesn't play well in a war for "liberation". It looks like the guys were told so as well, it has now been replaced with an old style Iraqi flag.

Well he is down, the crowds in the streets are cheering and beating the statue with whatever they can find.

Here's one last shot of Saddam waving Bye Bye!

I'm glad they brought in that tank with the boom on it. They spent so long putting that rope around SH's neck only to find out it was too short!

The American Flag on his face for a minute was great, and then they put the pre-gulf war Iraqi flag up around his neck. :)

I noticed that the Iraqis dragged away part of the statue along with the chain and spreader off that M88 Armored Recovery Vehicle. I hope they don’t need that chain to tow out an Amtrac or Tank tonight, or there will be some unhappy Marines.

You got to wonder what’s going to happen after the sun goes down.
