Oh boy...(said with trepidation)

Well, Charlie has a better chance at winning now, doesn't he?

I was almost positive Rupert would get it. The coming days, weeks and months will be very interesting in the DBS world.

If GM was smart they would sit on DirecTV and not sell to anyone, let them wait a year and start the process all over again.

I am willing to bet that the company will be woth much more then.

Wait for the combined Echostar/Directv get saddled down in debt and Rupert starts a hostile takeover bid.

If Dish buys DTV I have a feeling I am going to be very glad to be a subscriber to a very good cable co.

WOW! Just read the news. Of course, this whole thing has a long way to go. GM meets again Sunday to further deliberate what they are going to do. Echostar still hasn't won yet and even if they do they have to get past federal regulators.

Stay tuned!!!

Echostar has already won, even if the merger doesn't get approved. (This assumes that Murdoch is true to his word and has REALLY walked away from the table). Unless there is a change of managemetn at DirecTV, E* will continue to gain market share and DirecTV will NOT be worth more a year from now. Additionally, E* could convince its cash backers to advance a lesser amount even if teh merger doesn't go through and Charlie could use this money to try to gain even more market share.

Alaso it is not out of the question for Rupert now to go to Charlie and make some good deals for carriage of Fox properties, espercially ones not yet carried here in the states.
