I get home Tuesday to watch house and I find my HR20 locked up, I do a reboot and it just gets stuck with the blinking blue ring. It hangs right after the blue screen that says one more second. after multiple tries of rebooting I unplug it for 30 min. HR21 finally boots all the way, but immediately freezes when it tries to tune to the channel it was left on. unit became responsive when I got it to tune to a standard def channel. would not play any of my recordings. unplugged over night, same issue. Called Direct TV, and figured out it will only play MPEG 2, and would slow down to a stand still when tuned to MPEG 4. They setup a service call for 1 week later. I told them to make sure the tech brings a new unit, so I don't waste my time. so I delete all my series links and I set one off recording on the HD mpeg 2 channels. I also have a HR21, and yesterday it was set to record CSI and Supernatural. Supernatural records fine, but when I check CSI, it's just a grey screen, but I could tune to CBS live, so both tuners are recording and I could watch both channels live but only one was recording correctly. I'm longing for the day when I used my TIVO, never had these issues with it.

I think it sounds like something is bad with the setup, maybe an LNB or cabling issue since it is affecting both of your HR2x DVR's. Maybe someone else can get you some more information, I am not real technical on the setups.

If you have them connected to the network, unplug the cable. Also, messing around with the BBC’s (remove them, swap them, etc.) Oh, and post all your signal strength checks from both tuners.

I had the same issue a few months back and what fixed my problem was replacing the BBC's.

Agreed. Find another provider that's better and I will switch. I've tried FIOS, cable, and Dish and none could match the price for a setup like mine and my PQ is great. And all my HRs are working properly (knocking wood at the moment) today.

I've been to other forums for other providers and they seem to have more problems than we do. Even the TiVo forums.

I watch this forum as I want the NFL Ticket. What keeps me away is the lack of missing Features, DLB and Autotune are the biggest ones.
Not being able to Archive my saved shows and move them to any DVR I own, or being able to move them to a replacement DVR if necessary. Reading all the posts about firmware, or other issues that force D* users to reformat their Hard Drives lose all their shows, and just being screwed as they can't move external drives from one machine to another machine. The idea of adding a external Drive that replaces my internal makes no since at all. Direct has some channels that Dish should have, and I would love to have them. Everytime I go to my Brother-in-Laws, and his HR20 and HR21, we play with the interface, the family reminds me they NO desire to move over to Direct.
