It's kind of funny how PC related devices are coming up with ways to make old noises even though there is no longer a physical reason for them to exist.

Additionally, the iPod comes with a control dial designed by touch pad kings Synaptics. The "wheel" makes a clicking sound, as if the user is rotating it with his or her thumb, but in reality it is a solid-state device that doesn't move at all.
I bought an external USB modem (it looks like a bulky key chain) but when I connect there is a "Modem Connect" noise just like a modem you heard when the modems had speakers in them, the SW is linked thru the sound card. So I assume the sound is totally artificial as well?
I wonder what other sounds are articial???
