DTV had ebay cancel BBC's I had on ebay. I upgraded to the SWM and did not need them anymore. I can understand Leased receivers and access cards but man.

Since they're free from DirecTV, I can't think why anybody would even bid on them.

Because alot of people may not know they are free, hence why DirecTV won't allow it. Can't blame them.

Stupidity.

People will bid on anything on ebay.

I didn't need them and DTV did not want them back. So I searched and a whole bunch were on ebay so I figured wth and put them up. I did sell all but one and then it was pulled.

Another thought is your ad could have been written in such a way that someone might be misunderstood.

If you stated these were required in order to receive HD signals, it could have been considered as misleading as there are configurations where they are not needed.

OP--Don't you think it's a but shady to try to sell something to someone that they can get for nothing? In unethical and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Not at all! I paid for them when I bought my DVR's since I didn't get them from DTV so why not sell them. I was not going to just throw them away.

You had to pay for them? Seems odd...Directv is very good about giving those out for free usually.

Hey, it's the American Free Enterprise system. Good for you.

Are BBC's property of D*?

Regardless if someone can get the free from D*, if they are no longer property of D*, I do not know what gives D* the right to interfere with an ebay auction of BBCs.

He probably meant that the cost of the BBCs are rolled into the initial cost of the receiver.

Probably. I would assume they are leased as well considering they come with the HD receivers (usually). Again this can be a bit open to interpretation since the leasing is only really clear on the receivers themselves.

I think Directv likes to think they own all your equipment now.

There are probably legitimate reasons why someone would not want to order them from D*. They may be violating the TOS, but the reason is still legitimate.

He probably bought them off of eBay himself when he got them!

I've ordered BBC's from DTV serveral times now and have NEVER recieved them. Because of this unfortunatly, I'm one of those guys who've bought one from ebay :(.

Really angers me when I hear how others have asked only once for serveral BBC's and receive them no problem.. I had to go without 103 odds for a month.

What is the cost to upgrade to the SWM?

Last time I checked, SWM-8 with PI was about $140. The SWMLine plus PI was $115. Add shipping. These are Solid Signal prices.

I must have at least 6 or so. D* sent them to me when I asked about upgrading some older, non-mpeg4 receivers. Didn't take the deal they offered me, but about 2-3 days later, I get these padded envelopes loaded with BBC's.

Again on ebay they are a little cheaper but obviously we won't go there as some think it isn't right to sell them on ebay

My guess is the VeRO program caught it. D* is really cracking down on people selling their equipment on eBay. I know it makes no sense with the BBC’s, but their cancellation of auctions of owned equipment makes no sense, either:

You have to call. I've tried four different times on the web form and never saw them. When I've called they have shown up.
