I had my install done in July of this year when the HD channels still were on the 110 and 119 sats and I could not get LOS from my dish location on my apartment porch. I believe they have now moved to 99 and 103 and I think I can see them now. Couple of questions:

When will that new dish to see just those 3 sats be rolled out nationwide? I believe its called an SL3? Will that dish fit on the normal pole mount?

If I upgrade to HD within the first 6 months and they have to do a truck roll, I think there is a $50 charge?

Any chance since I have just been a customer for 3 months that I can get a break on an HD-DVR now that for the current offer its free for Choice Extra customers and higher?

Thanks.

Did they install the 3 LNB 'multisatellite' ODU or 'slimline' one. If it is the slimline one It uses the same ODU it's just a different LNB. but it it is the old ODU it would need an adapter . Or just self tap a new pipe over the old one.

Both of these are between you and a CSR. Call and see what they can do for you.

So what service do you currently have? Just SD with an Oval dish or what?

You can see what dish you have by looking here and reporting back (note the top row are all just slimlines with different LNBs):

Remember that the SL3 is still in very limited use, and your local office may not even have them (or even know about them!). DirecTV will not guarentee that you will get an SL3, again as they are still in the initial rollout stage. If you want to be sure you get one, order the SL3 LNB from Solid Signal or eBay and let the installer use it instead of the SL5 LNB he brings. The only difference for installation is that he leaves the tilt/skew setting at the default setting for your zip code, instead of fine-tuning it with 119 (which he can't do with an SL3 LNB).

I have only SD with a Phase II Round Dish. Below is my setup on my porch. My concern is that with the SL3 being a larger dish and I have a tight area as it is, that it still won't get a good signal from where the dish is at. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

Ahh, I remember seeing your photos now. You actually just have a Phase I round dish that sees only 101.

I guess I dont really know. 99 and 103 are fairly close to 101, but your space is very tight. The dish would fit, I just dont know if you would be able to pull in 99 and 103 or not.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to get a tech out there to see, right?

Nope, the only thing is that they might just take a quick look and say no. Try if you can to get them to setup a dish and actually test it.
