trying to get my Dtv on demand to work

i have it hooked up it gives me error 62 i was told that it is seeing my router but i need to go into the router and open the port to allow it so the receiver can use it? i can use a computer but the networking think is still foreign. help

Go into the HR2x menu and select advance under the network option. Make sure the setting match the settings in your router.

how do i see what my options in my router are?

what type of router do you have?

linksys routers, usually blue have default ip address of 192.168.1.1

DIRECTV On Demand should work with default settings.

I suggest connecting a laptop to the ethernet wire you are plugging into HR20 to confirm you have DCHP working and that you have Internet access from the port.
