I've got a new HRxx (please be a 22!) being delivered by fedex today. Once I have it hooked up and power it on it should automatically pull 0x290 on boot right?

It will run for about 15 minutes and it will then reboot and find the new software. At least that is how it has been for me every time I have connected a new receiver.

I just had my new install on Monday (HR22 whoohoo) and like mentioned in the post above after about 10-15 minutes it popped up a message stating that new software was found. Pressing the select on the remote initiated the download. Another 10 minutes later the box was up and running.
Let us know which model you end up with! I am curious ;)

Will do, and since I haven't wired Ethernet to that location I foresee a WGA600N going in soon too. ;)
All kinds of new goodies ;)
The WGA600N is a slick little unit with the integrated setup now n the HR2x receivers!

Wife just got back from errands and tells me that it is indeed a HR22.

The topper there is we werent under commitment, she called and within 8 mins she got it drop shipped, for shall we say minimum price.
Very nice! So you ordered direct from Directv and put in the request for an HR22?
Good to know they sometimes are able to get what you want (or random luck :p )

Pretty much ;)
Well I have to make the decision on whether to chance it or go to Costco in awhile (planning on adding another HD-DVR), so I was just curious.
I might just chance it if they offer a good deal (better than $169 from costco).

Grentz,
I wanted a new DVR and specifically wanted an HR22. I called D* and convinced them to let me buy it at Best Buy (no local Costco) and give me the same credits they would have given had I gotten it directly from D*. After some negotiating they agreed. I picked up the DVR that day, and they gave me $10 off my bill for a month and 3 months of STARZ free.

I might try that route as well, thanks for the tip!
We will see how nice they are too me with deals, I upgraded to HD just under a year ago and got an AM21 a few months ago...so they might just say straight retail cost for me (in which case off to costco I go!) ;)
