Huntington locals???? Where'd they shove those channels? There is no room in that spot beam that covers South-East Ohio, Eastern KY and central and West West Virginia for the Huntington-Charleston locals. Now I can see Charleston, SC?
Hmmmmm.....

The only Huntington(s) I see in California is(are) in the LA market. And I can't find a "hutington". :)

Huntington/Charleston, WV
WCHS TV 8 ABC
Charleston/Huntington, WV
WVAH TV 11 Fox
Charleston/Huntington, WV
WOWK TV 13 CBS

WPBY TV 33 PBS

I'd like to know this too. Anyone else watch the Retailer Chat and get more info. I know that Darkman has a hard time with city names when mumbled with Tennessee accents. Remember Loo-ehvil :D

no-no-no people...
Nothing new..
they were talking about something that they already added, and 2 were missing...
So more likely it is Huntsville or something..
I wasn't talking about a new city...
Sorry again - it starts with "Hunt" anyhow
I ll go edit out my first post

Wow, it looks like both E* and D* will have Charleston-Huntington locals before years end, maby I can convince my folks to switch to satellite. Not sure where E* is going to put them though unless they go to E9 at 121, when that bird is launched.

Darn, I wish Dish would add Charleston/Huntington and Direct is, I know what to expect when Direct gets them and Dish doesnt, everyone will be switching to Direct and my business is for sure to be dead then because I sell Dish and do not sell Direct. Dish will say my code is red for good by then (retailers know what I mean when I say this) and Dish will blame us retailers in WV for that.

Well, I watched it but not from home. This is the least enthusiastic, mono tone retailer chat I have ever seen. Something "is" up.

nope - i made a spelling boo-boo (and created waves around here)
I typed Huntington (by mistake) originally (in the thread's first post) instead of Huntsville

Darn, I wish Dish would add Charleston/Huntington and Direct is, I know what to expect when Direct gets them and Dish doesnt,If West Palm Beach is any indication, expect your business to go to zero unless you can do work in a neighboring DMA where you are on an even footing with DTV dealers. DTV got WPB many months before Dish did and my business totally disappeared. I went several months without an installation, this of course resulted in my being deleted from the VRU for prospective customers. My neighboring dealers to the north of me are close enough to the Orlando DMA that they could sell and install into that area and continue to make a buck and remain on the VRU, driving any sales in my area to those dealers. My neighboring dealers to the south are close enough that they could install off air antennas (ae?) to pull in all locals, thereby retaining sales and remaining on the VRU. (VRU=Voice Response Unit) My business has not returned to even close to where it was and I am glad that I don't rely only on my satellite business for my living. I started my satellite business in 1989. When the small dishes came out I realized that eventually the business would go away completely, if nothing else due to market saturation. I am actually surprised it has lasted as long as it has, especially since DTV wasn't at all interested in signing up independent retailers when they started out. I guess we as retailers are just lucky that Dish didn't go the same route.

Oh well, I did wander where they would place those Charleston-Huntington stations since the spotbeam over them is full. Here in Chattanooga where I currently live, it was rumored to be on E* for the 4th quarter of this year, however we are on the fringes of a couple of spotbeams. I think that Chattanooga as well as the Charleston-Huntington market will end up on E9 at 121 which will require a larger dish. If I am not mistaken, E9 is due to launch in May which means that the 4th quarter Chattanooga rumor may be wright on target, I hope so ;) .

They are now, but D* had them about 6-8 months before E* got them. That was enough time for my business to dry up.

Maybe that is another reason why Dish does not go to an area that Direct already targeted because they dont lost a lot of the customers to Direct. If they want to keep the customers they need to get the same locals up soon. Maybe after seeing the list they will react to it. Maybe this is also why Dish is targeting areas that Direct has not in which there is room on the spot beams to do so.
