(Sacramento Bee) TV Columnist Rick Kushman recently spent some time behind the scenes at the Southern California studio where "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," television's top-rated show, is created. In the first part of a two-part series (http://www.sacticket.com/tv_radio/story/6429647p-7381635c.html), Kushman looks at the crucial role science and special effects play in the forensic drama. In Part 2 (http://www.sacticket.com/tv_radio/story/6435711p-7387629c.html), Kushman profiles Anthony E. Zuiker, the unlikely man behind the success of "CSI" and its offshoot, "CSI: Miami."

In TV Guide a few weeks ago they said look for another CSI, possibly CSI: New Orleans. CSI is a great show and I'm liking Miami more and more as I get used to Carusoe.

CSI is the greatest program on network TV. I cannot and never will get to like David Caruso. When he left NYPD I couldn't have been happier.

My favorite show also. I can't believe CBS released Season One Fullscreen.

They should leave well enough alone and not expand the lineup. I am slowly coming around to CSI:Miami but it took a loooong time (thanks mainly to Emily Proctor). I think adding more cities will just dilute it's quality and appeal.

Among the researchers in my lab, CSI is a natural favorite. The folks are as much interested in seeing familiar lab analysis equipment in use as they are with the story-lines and characters in the series. The original CSI (Las Vegas) has mor of a following the CSI - Miami for that reason. The forensics featured in hte Miami seem to focus more on physical evidence rather than biological analysis.

CSI, CSI Miami, and CSI New Orleans? Sounds like Law and Order, Law and Order SVU, and CI.

That is crazy but I am a fan of CSI (Vegas) and Law and Order CI.

I was able to contact one of the heads of distribution at Paramount Home Video about the Full Screen/Widescreen "issue" with the 1st season set. His comment was that the OVERWHELMING sentiment of the viewers is that they want the WHOLE screen filled, not just something with black bars on top and bottom. He went on to comment that the majority of folks think they are losing a lot of picture when they watch widescreen. How sad that the "powers that be" haven't begun to educate the masses enough! He agreed with me that widescreen _should_ be what's released (after all, the show from day 1 was shot in HD 16:9)!

I, too, am a fan of both CSI series. But, one (or all) of my college chemistry professors would "ding" them on their lab "technique" (cross-contaminating one solution with the eyedropper of another). Nevertheless, I "willingly suspend my disbelief" and enjoy the show. Keep it up, CBS! :)

The article in TV Guide said the produces of CSI are looking to go up against Law & Order. What I like would be really cool, would be to have the CSIs meet. Fox example, lets say there's a serial killer who stikes in Vegas and then stikes somewhere else like Miami, and have the two sets of casts work together after building some kind of decent story line. But that will never happen considering William Perterson's stong dislike of CSI:NYPD, I mean CSI:Miami.

Peterson, no he doesn't like it at all. TV Guide wanted to have Peterson and Caruso to pose together for the front cover, but he refused to. The artical in TV Guide about CSI was very interesting.
