XBR4 and 1080p support...

Not sure why my TV won't handle Directv's new 1080p broadcast(I have an HR20-100) but for some reason it doesn't. I get a blank screen when I set it to 1080p support.

I have a 40" Sony XBR4 flatscreen LCD, that I KNOW supports 24p, without pulldown even. It works terrific in 24p(and 60p) with my A35 HDDVD player and my Playstation 3.

Now, my connection does go from the HR20 to an Onkyo TX-SR705 receiver, then to the TV, but again, my TV has never had issues with 1080p, except for Directv's HR20.

Any ideas about this?

Bypass your Onkyo? Others have reported similar issues with their amp in line.

Just tried that, no go. Ran the HDMI straight from the HR20 to the XBR4 and it still won't handle 1080p. Something's definitely not right with Directv's 1080p implementation.

I have an XBR4 too, Blu-ray HDDVD no problem. HDMI direct to tv, amp connected only via optical sound. Directv 1080p doesn't play on mine either.

I tried the 1080p test and failed. After reading the other thread, I learned about the "push INFO button" trick during the test and now I have 1080p. Not sure when it will work for me, but I have the option.
