Thanks for the heads up. :)
We have added Harry Potter 1080p to our queue via DirecTV's site too. :)

If you are signed into your DirecTV account,go to DirecTV On Demand and select High-Def in the Filter Titles.
Hope the info helps. :)

I have not paid any attention to the 1080p stuff since I don't have a TV capable of it. Can you download a 1080p movie and watch it at either 1080i or 720p?

Why does it show as rated G?

How much of the DVR hard drive does this take up or does it go to their special reserved section?
I only have about 5% free now so I'd hate to blow out of bunch of shows by downloading a big 1080p movie!

Yes, you can choose 1080i or 720p. If you are in native, it will go to 1080i if that is selected.

It takes up about as much as a typical HD program does. While it is 1080p, it is 1080p/24 so it might actually take up less than a 1080i program, depending on the bitrate.
It goes in your section, not theirs as it is a pulled download. The only stuff that goes into their section is the stuff they send to you that you did not ask for.
Something must be wrong. They list all the Showtime series like Brotherhood and Californication for free. I doubt you'll be able to actually watch any of those without a subscription to Showtime.

That sounds right.... it is free to download, but you can only watch it if you subscribe to Showtime

In the case of Showtime (or Smithsonian, for that matter), FREE means no additional charge.

seems they have canceled the free 1080p. I have only 1.5 internet so i know it would be slow. i started it at 12:26pm and got home at 4:00pm and it was at 30%. Look back at 4:30 and its on longer downloading. I checked history and it said canceled, no longer available. Looking at the website you can no longer filter DOD. So much for the freebie. :(
I dont see it listed either :(
I selected High-Def from the left drop down and it popped up for me.

Looks like its gone. I selected High Def, and nothing shows up under channels that indicates 1080p

I went to the D* site to queue up the free 1080p version and it and all of the 1080p titles I queue cancel themselves with "unexpected error 3005". What does this mean? Other SD and HD titles work, just not the free 1080p. I searched the forums and haven't found any answers, only that some people had this problem with some CEs last year.

I was able to download Harry Potter in 1080P, but unfortunately I cannot watch it in 1080P. :(
When I tried setting up for 1080P capability, I had to use the "trick" to get the DVR to except 1080P. Well, it won't play in 1080P.
So, I guess if you have to use the info button "trick" to get 1080P, you probably won't be able to play back in 1080P.

From what people who have seen this movie have told me, it would seem that Directv should be paying us $4.99 to watch it. I have never heard so many people say "Worst Movie Of The Year" when describing this movie

What a piece of crap this movie is! It's worse than Cloverfield. They should never let that guy make another movie! :icon_lame
Also, why is it than no movie ever set in Philadelphia ever has characters who speak like they live there? Being from there, I'm sensitive to it and find it irritating. At least all the roads in the movie weren't wet.

can you not access this on their website anymore? I checked every high def movie listing and tried the all categories and going to switch channel to directv 1080p and it wasn't there. Must I first set my receiver to output 1080p before I can see this one the website?

I wish they would put at least on movie up for testing.
I always seem to miss these chances.

Premonition from Showtime On Demand is in 1080p/24.
It doesn't say it anywhere, but it is.
Of course, to enjoy the 1080p/24 experience, you actually have to watch Premonition. I'm not sure it's worth it.

I watched Doubting Thomas last night, 1080p/24 VOD. Both the 720p and 1080i lights were on. My Samsung switched to 1080p/24.
The movie was basically unwatchable. It was like it was dropping chunks of frames at a time. Motion blur was horrendous. Audio was in ProLogic II.

I will have to wait for some new Free 1080p offerings to give my Samsung a try.
