I have a problem with with stuttering of my hr20

When i record something when the dvr is off i get really bad picture on it. i get lots of blocking and picture distortion and the audio cuts out. when i'm watching it live as it's recording the picture quality is perfect.

When you're watching it live and recording, does it still look fine when you go back to the Playlist and watch it from there?

I guess I'm asking if the unit is not in standby and records is the recording any good?

Which DVR do you have?

Try leaving the DVR on and see how your recordings come out. When it's in standby, only the lights on the front panel are out and it doesn't output. It should still be buffering the live channel and making scheduled recordings.
