1. I want to look at photos and videos that are stored on my computer on my TV. I have XP Professional but not ViiV compliant.
2. I installed TVersity and got it to work pretty good. I can see and play my photos(mostly jpg's) and most of my videos (Avi's and Mp4's) All of my music will play.
3. The problem is it won't let me play my hi definition videos. I get a message that the file was not able to play. They were all taken with a Sony Hi Definition video camera and the file extensions are .m2ts. I understand that this is a Sony standard file extension. I converted them using Nero to .mpg which is a Windows friendly format. They will play on WMP11 on my computer.
4. Here are some of the setting on TVersity.
A. HR20/1 HD Receiver (w.Wav)(default) I have also tried Auto Detect, HR20/1 HD Receiver (w.Wav & MP3) and Xbox 360. I don't have an Xbox 360 but somewhere I read to use that setting.
B. Max disc space 8192 MB
C. Video resolution 1920 x 1080
D. Image resolution 1280 x 1024
E. Windows Media Video 8
F. Wire (100 Mbps) I have an ethernet cable running from the DVR to my router.
G. Always transcode
I think everything else is default.

Any ideas on how to get my Hi Def videos to play would be appreciated.

It could be that the bit rate is higher than the DVR will accept. I usually have problems if it is higher than 8 Mbps or so (it varies). The videos will usually play for a few seconds before stopping with an error message.

Looks like a cool new product :) When comparing this to my MediaTomb setup using MediaShare, there is one thing that this device cannot do and that is online streaming. If this device had an ethernet port and was able to connect to a upnp media server from my PC, I'd buy it right away for $100 :)

At he current status of development of Mediashare there is no much you can do. The bugs in the software make it not very reliable. To have it to play, you must to reduce the bitrate lowering the quality of HD content (if it plays at all for any length of time).

Since I'm a dummy can you tell me how to lower the bit rate? And can that be done to videos that already exist?

Until the D* media player supports basic functions like rewind or fast forward I find it to be total waste of time. I bought an Xbox 360 streaming with Tversity and it works much better than the D* media player.

Seriously - Get an XBOX 360 and use Windows Media Center.

I'd like to help you but I have never used TVersity and I don't know if it has that option.
