I guess he felt that he had no future in the new Iraqi politics, but he should not have despaired, he showed the sort of talent that could have landed him a job as a corporate spokesman in the USA.
"Exxon is a healthy coprporation and the profit expectations are higher than ever."
"Those trying to link smoking and cancer shall have their shameful intestines ripped out and their lying faces feared by every child in the land."
"Mr. Jackson has never had plastic surgery of any kind and the bleached appearance of his skin is due to the emotional blows rained upon him by the black tongued tabloids whose stomachs will be roasting in hell for their lies."

Thats the funny thing, is that barring his jailable crimes, he probably could have done exactly as you posted. My first job out of college was working for PR firm, and I remember them being soooo proud of a campaign for General Dynamics (it was revealed that they had overcharged the gov't hundreds of millions, and hired the PR company to spin the story). I felt sick the rest of the day after hearing sooo much detail about what these PR people do. :(
Well, considering what we did to "Tokyo Rose" after WWII (on trumped up charges), perhaps he saw this as a way of escape.
Of course, this may also be his final act of disinformation as another way of escape.
actually, since the war has ended for all practical purposes, he's returned to the states and is now hosting "essentials" on TCM....
