For few weeks I have been having issues with my local channels thru directv on just one of my 5 boxes.
I recently replaced some older HD DVRs with newer HR21-200s. All was good, but over the past few weeks one of the boxes has developed digital breakup on the local channels. It's just this one box and I can't be certain but I know it started after the latest update but I cant remember how long after.
I was trying a lot of stuff yesterday to try to resolve it. I reset the box completly and that seemed to help but last night it was back to breaking up. It happens every minute or so and it doesnt effect the sound just the picture.
I'm at a lose since its just that box and the others are fine.
Anyone have any other ideas. Bad switch? I thought about rotating the cables on the swicth to see if that helps.
Sorry for any spelling or grammer mistakes.

does the issue occur on both tuners? Reason I ask is maybe it is the bbc. Just a thought.

[B][I]Had the same thing on my HR20-700 it turned out to be a bad LNB , it seems like some water got into it & it would freeze up at night & kill the sig.

trace the lines from the one box to the multiswitch, SWM or dish, and look for any loose or corroded connections, sounds like there may be an issue there, also look to see if the lines run close to a power line or power supply anywhere in your house (Like a transformer for a cordless phone, etc)

I'd take off the bbands and see what happens. It sounds like a bband problem to me too. You might need to get them replaced.

Thanks will try suggestions.
As I mentioned in my first post. The problem is only with the locals. NBC, ABC, CBS.
Not sure what the BBands do so I will swap those out between boxes tonight and see if that helps. Will also trace the lines back to the switch and check those.

you are experiencing a loss (or degradation) of signal on the signal for the locals. if other HD is ok then the b bands would not normally be a suspect. It is local (from the dish to the rcvr) It is also a limited loss as it does not affect other hd or SD signals. I suspect a very specific frequency, which is why I wonder about electromagnetic interference of some sort.
