Two choices only, a capture card to your PC or a stand alone DVD recorder, at 480i.

so these are the only two choices, these will let me capture the recorded items from the hr20-100 or hr20-700. thanks...
As long as it is not protected content, yes. Some of the PPVs and premium channels (HBO, etc.) have macrovision that will keep you from recording it.

I have yet to ever have that happen, it depends on the DVD recorder you use. I record many, many movies from HBO, Starz, Showtime and PPV all the time with no trouble at all.

Yes. I start transfers overnight.

ok, yeah I have stuff already recorded months ago and would like to transfer.
mostly regular tv specials not movies have net flix. I would hate to loose recordings if dvr cramped out or need to upgrade.

I have used both a capture to my PC and a stand alone DVD recorder, but I prefer to use my stand alone recorder for convenience. Recordings made from an HD program come out really great.

The best results I have had is using S-video out to the DVD recorder. Remember S-video does not carry audio, you must use the red/white audio out to your DVD recorder.

and that will get the stuff off the dvr that has been recorded. what triggers the dvr contents to record to dvd recorder.

During playback, all of the DVR's outputs are active with the same thing you see on your TV screen. Use your DVD recorder to record any item you choose to play from your playlist on your DVR. After you record it to DVD you have to manually go back and delete it from the DVR. You must do this for each recording.

Yes it does depend on the recorder/capture device, some are better about recognizing (or more like obeying  ) macrovision and copy protection while others just ignore it ;)
