I received an e-mail message from DirecTV a few minutes ago.
It appears they now have a new spin on the "Refer a friend" program.
Now,you can refer up to 20 people per year, and get the $50 credit on your bill for each person that you refer and switches over to DirecTV.
More info at the following link from DirecTV.

It sounds like someone needs to "catch up with the times" on sending e-mails from DirecTV,eh?
All I know is that I just got the e-mail a little while ago and thought I would "spread the word" on here,so to say. :)

You didn't know about the program so it was not them catching up with the times. However as Curt said this was changed a few months ago. You know how it is around here though. 6 HD LiL markets launched not even 12 hours ago and it's already "old" :)

Doesn't fit perfectly, but it is a great attempt at an alternative for a pyramid scheme. You tell 9 people and get 3, all 3 of them send out 9 and get 3 each and it keeps spreading. In the end D* wins

Here's the deal... we all love our friends... but when you pitch DTV to them until they go for it... they tend to treat you like the DTV sales and service department. $50 is way too cheap... though I am very happy with my 13 years of DTV.

It would be worth it to DTV to pay a lot more to walk new customers through the maze. This is hard work... and a good customer like me is way better at the job than any DTV employee.

And yes... DTV is way way too sloppy about actually giving up the credit.

Yeah, I'm not looking for a part time job selling Directv either. I can only imagine how much grief you have to go through to collect your $50! No thanks.

Actually,I was aware of the program from day 1 with DirecTV ( 2+ years & counting ). ;)
Just saying that this was the first e-mail I have received from them in regards to it. :)

You have to keep on them - I had the same problem when I signed up by using the referral from another DBSTalk member. It took several months of calling, e-mailing, etc., but he finally got the credit.

One ansewr I got from customer no-service was that I had called in on a different 800 number than the one shown on the referral e-mail! Turns out, their system did not record the right number that I called in on, and since I kept the original e-mails, I finally convinced them. Sometimes you just have to wear the b***$A#ds down.

I got the credit pretty quick but I would never be such a cheerleader for DirecTV again. The above posts are correct, the new customer often leans on you when things go wrong. At the very least, they will expect you to lend an ear when they have problems, and you feel pretty helpless.
